A LSD rear diff has come up for sale out of a 2000 V8 A8, is there any change it will bolt in?
thanks

i dunno, but would there be any advantage if it did?

afaik the oe a4 rear dif is pretty bullet proof

theres even some1 with a swapped 350 going to the rear diff only (rwd)

only adv is that it is a LSD so wouldnt spin up the inside back wheel at the track

even if it did, you need to have the same gearing front and back. Its like putting a automatic diff on the rear but having the manual one one up front, the gearing isnt the same and you could sure mess up some stuff doing so.

What's the gear ratio in the A8 diff? I doubt it's bolt in, but I know I would love to make a mechanical LSD work in the rear...

edit-
Just googled it, it's a 2.909:1 final drive according to audiworld (http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:5oOKEwctrFIJ:www.audiworld.com/model/a8/00/a8.shtml+2000+V8+A8+final+drive&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a). Definitely wont work, our cars have a 3.889:1 final drive for manuals, and 3.730:1 for automatics (according to audiworld (http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:VR-ANABqc88J:www.audiworld.com/model/a4/01/specs.shtml+2001+audi+a4+final+drive&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a), again).
