picking up a built aeb block tomorrow, and will be rebuilding the head shortly afterwards. can the bottom end handle a 8500~9000rpm rev limit? the block has the following:
Has 5,000 Miles
Bored to 82mm and honed (have receipt 365$)
Wiseco Pistons 9.25:1 CR and SCAT Rods (495$ 400)
APR Main Bolts and Rod Bolts (100$)
New main, crank and IM shaft bearings

are there tunes out there for this? couldn't find anything with a search.

Are you going to try and rev to 8500 on that k04?

I was about to ask the same thing, you will be hugely outside your powerband and revving that high will prove rather useless but cool none the less. The only thing else I could see you needing if you wanted to tap 9000 would be a main girdle kit, obviously making sure everything is balanced is key though.

are you planning on running a 35r or larger? that's the only real reason you would need to rev that high. otherwise revving to 8k on a 30r and the like will due just fine.

but fwiw, a GTI guy with a built 1.8t used to rev his car to 9200rpms daily and never had a problem. even though it is said to not rev the hydraulic lifters past 9k

What's a main girdle kit? Any links? I intend to replace the K04 lol but one thing at a time. Gotta get a clutch kit and rebuld head first.

Either 034, QED (bob), or Ringer Racing (mike) can get you everything you'll ever need for an engine build.
