Royal purple is the best, but Mobile 1 is really good. I use mobile 1 5w40.

They make a Diesel & Gasoline version, the one you link is for Gasoline, this one is Diesel http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_Turbo_Diesel_Truck_5W-40.aspx

Yeah, I thought 5w40 was for only Diesel too, then I found they made another version =D

i like amsoil. Mobil one "seems" to burn more for me than others. I have to add it more often. It also makes a ticking noise that i dont have when i use amsoil/royal purple/total oils

I run NAPA Synthetic 5w30. It is pretty much the same stuff as M1 and it cost half the price.

0w30 or 5w30 in the winter and 5w40 in the summer (I think people use 0w40 in the summer, too).

Royal Purple is always going to be a good brand to look at, i mean come on the bottle is purple and its got royal in the name haha but its a great oil to use.

BEST oil? Redline 5w30.

I run Castrol Syntec 5w30 because I'm not baller status enough for redline oil.

Castrol Syntec 5W40...(in Europe called 'Magnatec') in combination with the large oil-filter (partnumber 068 115 561 F). It does his job fine.

The best would be Mobil 0W40 or Castrol Edge 0W40*. But I change every 7000 Miles, I personally don't like to throw away so much money in short periods.

* strange, in the US there isn't any 0W40 Edge...

I personally use Amsoil 0w30 Signature Series for the winter, 5W40 European Blend for the summer.

Castro as well. Normal 5w-30 all year.

I've heard really only bad things about royal purple until now.
Most people say it breaks down way too early. Which, obviously oil is supposed to break down, but I've heard it does it too fast which will make it not protect your engine as it should.

I use Castrol Syntec 5w-40 and MANN 940/25 filter. Change every 3,000 miles.

The guys with 2.8's can get away with longer oil change intervals, but on the 1.8T even with synthetic if you're waiting longer than 3K miles I think your asking for problems. If you've ever cut apart a used oil filter off a 1.8T you'll know why.

^I think it has to do more with the quality of the motor oil. You can just feel the difference when driving. For example, Amsoil is incredibly smoothe onthe engine, as compared to most motor oils that retail stores house. I usually go 4-5k, but not sure I would do the same if I had a different motor oil.

Before I change my oil every 2-3 times I clean my engine with Tunap 327. Amazing stuff that really works, you should see how black the old oil comes out. Just pour in a bottle Tunap in your old oil, let the engine run idle for about half an hour and then drain the oil out.

using the pentosynth, i change my oil every 5k and its never even that dirty. but then again, i have a machine that totally flushes out your oil system, which i did like 15k ago and the results are amazing...
