My engine seems to be trash...
193000km = 120000miles
Seems like prev owner (bought it at 178000km) changed oil way to few times...

Problems: at operation temp (when 5w30 long-life oil can be mistaken for water) it's problem with oil pressure between 800-1400rpm no warnings only if you check with VAG-COM you can se oil pressure min-ok-min-ok all the time!
If you run the engine oil really fucking hot i get the red oil can warning and a loud beep, thought i had the oil sludge problem but cleaned the oil pan etc and not much sludge there at all... changed oil 2 times last 500miles and done a liquid moly engine flush at first oil change like 1 month ago! So that should not be the problem..
And you can hear a slightly metallic sound up to 3000rpm. but mostly 800-1500rpm need to have the good open to hear any bad sound 1500-3000rpm... and only at operating temps!
The sound seems to come from under spark plug number 4 when facing the engine from the front!

Probably that bearings are worn out and are leaking oil when it gets up to operating temp... Then what bearings?...

What im thinking now is replacing engine for a one that has very few miles on it! So i get a "new" car... Else it's in really good shape!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XesMGsMSnvU
The sound can be heard there...

I'm great full for any hints or tips what to do! But i think just replacing the engine will be cheapest... Thou this engine don't drink more oil than other 2.0tfis's, no blue smoke even at rev limit... and got good power and fuel economy... so WTF is wrong with it?... Have had at least 5 oil changes up to 93000miles and been running long-life oil and very long trips... been doing about 40000miles/year and like 200miles runs every start-up...

And as far as i know the turbo is never replaced... and if the oil have been that bad would not the turbo have been worn out first of all?

What exact oil are you using?

Last 2 changes
Statoil LazerWay LL 5W-30
Before that 1 change with Shell helix ultra longlife oil.
And before that i don't know what the owner used but it's been changed to Longlife oils at VAG all the time prev to my ownership... but abit to few times...

Have you tried an oil that is on the VAG approved list? I would think I would want to ad-hear more to exact requirements as a engine gets older. This isn't a short block chevy engine.

I tried to listen to your youtube video clip, but you have it set to private.

Youtube clip should be fixed now!

This oil is approved as a VAG longlife oil! atleast the swedish specced oil im using atm... Used by approved VAG dealer, and the shell helix oil i used in the sound clip same thing there another VAG dealer using that!

I'm thinking of trying 10w40 oil when it's not -18C outside... as I don't have a engine heater or garage...

But i guess that will just quiet the problem... if any bearings at the crankshaft is worn, then the engine would drink quite some oil?

I don't think worn bearings would cause any oil loss, just low oil pressure. The bearings are internal to the engine, so them being worn doesn't really let oil get out of the engine.

Ye but would not worn out crankshaft bearings make the pistons and piston rings crappy aswell and then the engine would start to burn oil?

Oil pump maybe? Sounds like more than one problem to me tho. I would have it checked out by an audi specialist

Oil pump is connected to... hmm was it the crankshaft? anyhow to change oilpump just the parts are like 1500$ + work... new engine about 4000$ +1500$ work.. and then i get a brand new instead of my current 120000mile engine...
and if oilpump aint the problem? then im gonna go over what a new engine costs...

5w-40 or 0w-40 is recommended by audi for our cars

HUH! wonder why that is.

at least the biggest Audi dealer and (i think) almost all the other small dealers use and sell that oil... i guess 0w40 would be better?:S

Ive been thinking of why they would recommend one weight of to another for the same engine. I just don't know, unless it has to do with enviroment but I dont think Sweden is that much different from Pennsylvania in the winter. Oh well im just gonna go by my owners manual. Good luck with your car.

The oilpressure does not care much. 0w30 or even 15w50, we tried, bad pump is no pressure sometimes.
Replace the pump after manual pressure testing it (there are many cases of bad sensors), there is an upgraded version at Audi.
Don't drive like this, if you drive this problem a few miles you will wear out your axial crankshaft-bearings and trash the engine completely.
