Would anyone even consider trading a b7 a4 2.0 for a 2000 b5 s4? Now the s4 has k04s, 034 inlets, tune, piggies, catback, and all maintenence just completed less than 4k miles ago. Nogaro blue tip. What do you guys think?

if all you care about is going really, really fast...that's the only reason.

on all other fronts, it's a major downgrade.

there's really nothing that is not obvious here...

one huge problem is that it's an automatic.. ):

yeah automatic will make it hard to find a trade in here.. plus most guys who would be interested in trading for a b5 s4 here would be looking for considerable money on top of the trade and would want to do the modding themselves..

Thats what I figured. Thanks for input

I'd actually really like to do the swap from my A4 to the S4, but only if it was MT

you could sell your B7 and buy 2 B5 S4s... and possibly have money left over.

What B7 are you selling? And what B5 S4s are you buying? My friends dad is selling his red B5 S4 with 70k miles for $17k. If I got $20k for my B7 A4 i'd shit myself.

$17k is an asking price...he'd be lucky to get $10k for his 10 year old car that looks mega-outdated at this point. i mean let's get real: b6 s4s which are 1000x nicer than the b5 go for less than $17k now.

of course it goes without saying, now is not the time for anyone to be selling any car.

$17k is an asking price...if he gets over $10k for a 10 year old car i'd be shocked.

My boss just bought a silver B5 S4 for like 8K only has 66k on the clock...

correct, sir.

surprised you'd be willing to go back to the interior of the b5...it's pretty old at this point, and if you're coming out of a b6/b7 i think that'd be tough.

if you're all about the speed, that's the only way i would understand.

A clean stage 3 S4 could fetch close to 20k. In fact one just sold last week for 19k. Not to mention they are timeless classics, unlike the B6, which in 5 years, nobody will remember. But that has been discussed many times.

Needless to say, I'd value this TIP at around 14k, the automatic issue tends to lower the desire.

No i wouldn't like going back to the B5 chasis. If i wanted speed, i'd buy the new S4 instead of going back to the old...

I'd do it if the s4 was in really good shape and was manual

I disagree, the B6 USP is still going to be a classic

oh so you meant you want to switch to an s4...a new s4, not a b5. gotcha.

b6 usp is the cleanest all around a4/s4 design to date. i own a b7 s-line now...notice which car's in my sig.

i love all audis, and the b5 was the first audi experience i had, and loved every second i got to ride in one of my friend's. i knew i had to have an audi. when the b6 usp came out, i could wait no longer.

in 5 years a b6 usp will still be looking clean, b7's will still be looking alright, along with the b8s and b9s...

a b5 will hardly be recognizable as a mode of transportation.

and a fully worked b7 could fetch over 30k, but we're not talking about worked up cars, we're talking stock or lightly modded. the amount of people that are going to spend 20k on a 10 year old money pit that looks super old can be counted on one hand, and these people would only be interested in a car like this because they want to go mega fast and can do their own work.

K04 cars are a dime a dozen. I could find you a GT s4 that would fetch 40k. K04 cars are hardly highly modded.

I will disagree with your B5 comment and I believe most knowledgeable enthusiasts will also disagree with you. There is more to it than just the lines of the car. The S4 has a motor that will be regarded as one of the best, even with its mainetance whoas.

Nevertheless a K04 car (as stated by the OP) could be a nice trade for someone with a B7 A4. Of course, I'd think a slight cash sum would also be included with the S4.
