that location will suck if you ever needed to use your heater.

Kudos on the work but why not get something like this?

There really is no good spot for an iPod in these cars. I couldn't use either one of those, but kudos to the OP, nice work.

Bingo, Not to mention, it takes your eyes off the road. I really like it level. I run an App called Rev http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/ When i select a gauge at night it looks like its embedded in the dash.

I looked for different locations to install. This was (i feel) the best location, of course it was a pain in the ass.

I use the credit card holder for my blackberry, just leave it at an angle so its not directly in front of the vents

yeah, these aftermarket options block stuff...

none of these other options seem as good as the oem mount that goes on the right side of the console on the passenger side.

I definitely give you credit for the work and a clean and unique install but it just looks really out of place to me that far up on the dash.

I think the best thing to have is a cable and just put the ipod in a cup holder or under the armrest

The best way IMO is in front of the climate controls (if your using auto all the time). The iPhone 3gs can't be hidden and controlled by any iPod adapters anymore since apple now puts chips in their av cables restricting connectivity through "non-supported accessories".
