I have the bose system in my '06 A4 and the dealership told me that it has 10 speakers [o_o]. What are the specs of this system and where are the speakers located.
Furthermore, what can be done to upgrade this system without messing with the factory look. Basically, can speakers be upgraded without upgrading the head unit or amps? I saw the factory sub and it is pretty wimpy. I overall really like the sound of the Bose but was wondering if there was any way to get better bass response while retaining the factory look.
Thanks!

Nobody knows?
2 speakers in each door and probably 2 subwoofers.
You won't gain much of anything without adding an aftermarket sub.

If you search I remember someone trying to hold the Menu Button on the radio and it activated a submenu.. playong in there seemed to better the bass response a bit.. should do a search in the forums, I think it's in a trivia thread or easter egg tread...

Thanks, but the dealer said something about 10 speakers???

That was only the B5 Bose system.
To the OP, my old B6 S4 appeared to have a tweeter and midbass in each door (=8 speakers), one centre speaker at the front in the dash, and one sub in the rear deck. The factory sub is a POS. How you could even call that a sub is beyond me, but that's Bose for you. Start by adding a sub and leaving everything else stock and see how you like it. That did wonders on my B7. The rest is still Bose though (ie. shit), but I didn't want to replace the whole system.

2 in each door...... 4 doors...... + subwoofers = 10 speakers. [:|]

What is the easiest way to add an aftermarket sub while looking stock? Any woofers that would fit in the stock location with the stock power? How much power is running to the subwoofer and at how many ohms?

You will need an aftermarket amp to run a sub. There is someone who did a nice detailed post with pics who put an aftermarket sub in the stock location. I couldn't find the post but I think it's on Audizine.
I put an Infinity Basslink in the trunk which is the easiest route to take. It has a built-in amp.

B6 S4 with Bose...
I just added a 12 inch sealed SUB.. Makes such a difference. WELL worth the money. Just dont go overkill. I had to dial mine back 99% otherwise I shake the car loose.
