Has anyone replaced their BOSE system with an aftermarket set-up and still retain the bose sound? I'm looking to replace my BOSE system with an aftermarket one but without a sub install. I know bass wise it wont be the same but I'd like something close to it. Is it even possible to get the same sound(ie bass, mids, highs) and feel? Suggestions on equipment? I plan on using my RNS-E with RCA pre-outs that are sold by kufatec.

Just curious, but if you want the same sound, then why bother?

That makes more sense, a lot depends on budget, since you don't want to run a sub you are going to want to try to find the biggest speakers you can to fit in your doors. You will also want to seal / deaden the doors as much as possible to get as much bass response out of the door speakers. Highs are not going to be much of a problem, and with decent enough door speakers you will be fine with mids / mid bass, but you are going to have a hard time getting a decent bass output without a dedicated sub.

Suggestions on equipment, depends on your budget, without knowing that its impossible to recommend anything.

I was looking at using the JL Audio line of amps and speakers.

I recommend adding a sub and then seeing if you still want to upgrade everything else.

I've always loved that line...
