I just had an Eclipse AVN-726e installed in my car with sirius and paid alot of extra labor to have the gps and sirius antenna ran to the shark fin. The issue is the installer didnt run the sirius antenna to the sharkfin but mounted the stock sirius antenna right behind it on my roof. He tells me that sirius is not compatible with the antenna in the sharkfin. Is this true?

It depends on the connector that the Eclipse's antenna uses, but most all use a standard FAKRA connector of some sort. I simply ran a 19' IP BUS cable to the rear of my car from my AVIC HU and plugged the Sirius unit into the OEM antenna leads from the Sharkfin in the OEM install location.

IIRC, you just need to change the plastic portion of the connectors to work with your aftermarket sat module.

I didn't have to change them on my AVIC's SAT module. I just had to removed some of the plastic shielding around them to plug them in.

That's the part I was referring to...I should've been more specific [wrench]

I'm about to install my new AVIC next week with Sirius. Do I need to pull the headliner to get to the shark fin connections?

No, you shouldn't, depending on what wiring is already in your car. The gps connector is at the top of the passanger's side C/D pillar. The sat radio connections should be in the driver's side trunk near the top of the compartment (behind the panel). If your car wasn't pre-wired for sat radio, then the connections will be at the antenna itself iirc...

My car currently rocks factory Sirius, so can I "steal" the antenna somewhere near the factory Sirius receiver? The Pioneer receiver I have almost looks like the Pioneer GPS receiver, a little square that wires into a bus interface. Maybe there is an adapter to be used?
