dude I will fix anything with the worst possible selection of tools ever... I am the self-proclaimed ghetto master mechanic. And if anyone doubts it, they must check out my latest power steering fix. 8mm deep sockets in the power steering line for the win!!!!

that being said, Kanyon's got a bigass press up there. Can you just remove the knuckle or whatever? They rent little bearing press/extractors from shops usually like Mid County Auto or Kragen. Otherwise, I bet we could ghetto rig something horrible that would probably work, but at the same time, risk all of our lives...

By the way, we have regular bi-weekly meets in the general Monterey Bay area as well. It usually requires wading through this thread and finding out the details last minute, but yeah. There's one tomorrow, the details are still being worked out.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4203440

I think it's only posted on VWVortex, but we do have a few regulars that show up in Audi's and BMW's as well. A few weeks ago we even had a Jag and Lotus show up.

Old Santa Cruz Highway is a blast, although a bit narrow with cyclists sometimes IMO. Very tight and technical. Old San Jose is much more open. I'd be down to come meet you at Lexington Reservoir Gilbert if you go that way, or at Highway 9/Skyline 35

Sounds good Max. Let's plan to meet @ Lexington Reservoir. Would 11 be good? Not sure how long it will take to get to the BBQ GTG.. Anyways, let me know.

Anyone else from SJ/bay area who would want to meet , I'd say we meet somewhere in Los Gatos.

Shouldn't take more then an hour at the most to cruise over. 11am sounds good. Can firm up details closer to the date, but lets say 11am @ the big pull out right @ Bear Creek Rd and Highway 17.

From Los Gatos, you take Highway 17 towards Santa Cruz, exit @ Bear Creek/Black Mountain Road. Then make a your first right @ stop sign, go over the freeway, and then make your very first right again and then youll be going parallel to the freeway for about 100 yards, with the reservoir on the left. Big huge pull out on the left, impossible to miss.

At first I was thinking "Bring the Audi!" since there are already a lot of VW's. But then I realized that regardless of the generation (MK1 or MK5), there won't be a lot of Rabbits. So now I'm leaning towards the Rabbit.

If it's a MK1, DEFINITELY the Rabbit. [up]

Due to the overwhelming interest in the meet, a few very generous folks have gotten together and rented the Buckeye Picnic area for us to hang out at. This includes a BBQ pit, so bring some stuff to grill!

P.S. Please no alcohol (requires a very expensive permit)

Yup, I'll still going to meet Max @ the Reservoir...

By the way, what route are you guys taking? I hope it's Old Santa Cruz / Old San Jose or HWY 9 cuz it only takes 20-30 minutes to get from the reservoir to the park if you take 17 and uh, the meet doesn't start till noon. 9 would make sense cuz it dumps you out right near the park. [up]

Also, don't forget to bring something for the BBQ/potluck and canned food drive guys!

We could also use a few more EZ-up type tents just incase.

It might be cool to cruise into the park Four Ring Circus en mass instead of in little groups. Anyplace we can all meet up outside of the park?

Maybe too late to get this together; but worth a try.

We do it all the time with my Chevelle Club, it definately puts out a good vibe. Especially from a a huge group of Big Blocks. [o_o]

Cheers!

Reservoir meeting place (This is a drive before Sofa King)
11:00 am

From Los Gatos, you take Highway 17 towards Santa Cruz, exit @ Bear Creek/Black Mountain Road. Then make a your first right @ stop sign, go over the freeway, and then make your very first right again and then youll be going parallel to the freeway for about 100 yards, with the reservoir on the left. Big huge pull out on the left, impossible to miss.

Yeah it was great to meet you dude. Your car is so clean and new and nice looking. Everything looks so OEM, I like it a lot. I would love to have your ride as a daily driver and then my S4 as a project/track/fun car. Ultimate combo.

Dood after cruising with the B5 S4 crowd; I'm trying to figure out how to convince my wife that I need one!

I actually went home and started surfing AutoTrader for one so I could keep up with you on the next road trip! SWEET! [cool]
