CD player gremlin

Wanted to see if anyone here may know what is going on with my Audi Concert system (CD player) in my '06 A3

Just purchased used a month ago, played audio CD's no problem, even burned ones.
One day is just stopped playing burned CD's (states Error 1)
now it won't play an audio CD at all

Any ideas?

Is there a trick? e.g. cleaning or is it just busted?

Try a lens cleaner first, if that doesn't fix it, you may have a failing/failed cd transport. In which case, the cheapest solution would be replacing the whole unit.
