Ok so I have a Magnaflow 14862 on my car and Witwer4444 has a Magnaflow too (he'll have to chime in on what number). Now whats wierd is mine is 30-70% louder then his and we both have it on stock piping with stock res??? Like I rev mine up and its just a shit ton louder. I like it but was curious why his is SO quiet??? mines a 99.5 and his is an 00-01 not sure which anymore and they are both 30v 2.8's. His has the dual straight 3" tips with 2.25 inlet mine has the dual 3" slant tips with 2.25 inlet.

Examine his exhaust. I did not know this till I changed my exhaust system, but the PO of my car had the exhaust chopped at the muffler.

We both have a custom bent pipe from the resenator to the muffler.

My initial thought was it had something to do with the catalyctic converters. But if they are the stock units, they usually don't hollow out but get clogged. You think it is either a muffler difference or something with the system? It has to be one of those.

See I'm wondering if either his are clogged or mine are hollowing out. He does have CEL's for the rear o2's though and I only have one code for the air pump and no CEL. He also just replaced his flex pipes. I'm wondering if they went bad due to back pressure from clogged cats which are also causing the codes.

But I have 150k on the OEM cats????

I do love the little crackling mine does on decel though hehe.

Just so everyone knows he's got the 14815

Is he getting plenty of flow out the back? I'm thinking his cat might be clogged.

Looks like theres a high possability he's gonna have to go with HFC's soon.

Off topic, but do all HFC's still smog with everything else stock? How about just a chip?

Here I am chiming in.

I just noticed within the past few days that when I start the car up and its cold (engine), there is a hissing sound when I accelerate. After a few minutes of driving, the hissing does go away however.

This to me would make sense that I have clogged cats, because when cold, they dont allow much air through, but as they heat up, the air can break its way through better.

I could also be totally HORRIBLY Wrong too. Let me know what you're thinking as I go back and finish installing my piano black trim!!!

Typically a hissing sound from the exhaust is a leak somewhere. The tubing would expand when the exhaust warms up, making the leak go away? other than that, I'm baffled lol
