On a cold rain soak Friday. Kim and I made our trek to the year pilgramage to the Los Angeles Auto Show. This year was a little different for us as this was the first time we'll get to see a few new cars that are controversial and some eagerly awaited. We were lucky enough to get an invite from VW. This was part of their marketing to get perspective new car buyers to come in and take a look at the all new MkV Jetta. With much fanfare, VW FedEx us 2 tickets and 2 passes to the VW Lounge where fancy sandwiches and snacks awaits us in an upstair deck over looking the VW exhibit. Ontop of that, we were presented with a nice VW Driver Wanted fleece blanket for coming by and checking things out...very nice touch for VW...something I would have expected Audi to do.

Obviously w/ the Jetta being the being focus, it dominated the main VW exhibit...with many reps circulating amongst the car show goers taking every opportunity to expound their knowledge of these new vehicle.
The base Jetta model will now get a new motor...well not so new as it's really old technology revamped. The I5 motor is back 2.5l 150hp motor is back as the base engine. With the 2.0T FSI motor being available in the GLi based Jetta pictured below.
Leather Recaro interior treatment in the GLi
The all new independent rear suspension
I think a better choice of wheels would have complimented this car a lot more...
I do however, like the front end of this Jetta...very aggressive
A very clever touch...
I'll be honest we both weren't very impressed with the interior...the plastics do not have that familiar VW texture and rubbery feel that it did with the previous MkIV chassis. Although there's ample leg room now that the car has grown in size. We just didn't get that German car feel.
The trunk btw is HUGE you really can fit at least 3 golf bags in there.

That was truly the highlight of the VW exhibit as the Golf V hasn't been formally introduced yet in this market. That would have been really exciting.

Next...the Audi exhibit.

I loved the new Jetta. I'm just thinking of the regular style Jetta but with the 2.0TFSI in Crystal Blue with that Votex kit, dropped, and some nice fully polished wheels to match the grille up front [cool] You know that would look nice Duan.
