on average how much would we be charged to change the timing belt? I already got the Ultimate TB kit but am contemplating getting a garage to do it rather than attempting it myself.

Book time varies from 4.7-5.5 hours depending on what you are replacing. Labor rates vary from $50-$100. It will take a home mechanic on average of 8 hours depending on your skill level. There are a few right ups on how to do it if you have some common tools and time.

Good luck finding a decent shop that will let you use your own parts.

Do it yourself and save money.

if you go to the dealer it will be approx 1100, for the labor and parts. According to the dealer its about a 7 hour job. I have been quoted at a shop that my friends been to and says do good work, for 1400, which will be parts for TB, water pump, and thermostat.
