I thought I got a good deal on my Audi 99.5 1.8T Sport QTip.

Now I find out that perforated material is vinyl, not leather.
Now I feel like I didn't get such a good deal..[:(]

Who has leather? Is it a rare option on these cars?

lol i prefer the leatherette.. looks just as good, feels just as comfortable, lasts longer [:)]

1.8T = pleather
2.8 = leather

no way around that.

I too prefer the leatherette for it's longevity. If you look a 97 with leatherette it looks new, which is not the case with leather.

I thought there was no leather at all....just pleather.

pleather is def. the way to go..... my m3 and mustang leather are both starting to f'ing crack and its pissing me off like crazy. at least with the pleather you dont have to worry about shit like that

well thats reassuring.. and yeah, my "pleather" looks awesome. not one wrinkle, scratch, weird grain or tear for a freakin' '99!

so that smell is pleather, not leather. hmm

The 1.8's have leatherette. Don't feel like you got a bad deal though. Like everyone says, it's definitely better than some leathers. I have the Ecru interior which is really light. My car is a 99.5 and it still looks brand new. It's also a lot easier to clean than leather...just water and a clean rag. Maybe a LIGHT detergent if you have a tough mark.

I definitely wouldn't mind the 2 tone leather/alcantara from the S4s though =/

you just have to take care of the leather. But the pleather does look good. Some can't even tell the difference.

I'm sporting the pleather and am very happy with it! It cleans up very easily and will keep it's condition much longer than real leather. Damn siht is cold on winter mornings though!

i have a 99.5 1.8t.... my leatherette is cracking and tearing all over the driver seat... pisses me off ALOT but that just means that some new sparco's are going to replace them.....

I have the ecru leatherette. My car is also about 7 years old now. It's held up very very well. Stayed very clean, like new. Only flaw is that it started to crack in the driver's seat.

I have tan leather and it looks fantastic. I've had many a car with Pleather, but I prefer the real thing...:) Do any of you guys have the wood trim or is that a 2.8 thing?

4ingDrive

I've worked on thousands of vehicle and I have to say leatherette always holds up better than leather.

Wood trim is also a 2.8 thing.

yeah the pleather usually holds up a lot better. Especially if you're buying a used car since chanses are that the previous owner didn't take care of the leather.

If you take good care of leather seats they will last for a very very long time.

The only place cloth seats are better is in the backseat during cornering, because you dont slide around as much.. But you shouldn't be cornering hard with people in the back seat anyway, so it's a moot point. You're crazy. [:p]

I have a 2.8 with leatherette. Leather is quite rare among A4s, according to my boss, who has seen several thousand come and go through his lot over the years. I personally would rather have cloth (doesn't get too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer).

Porsche has AMAZIN' leather..

I had an '88 944 Turbo w/ black leather and that stuff was still perfect. It was the TOUGHEST leather I've ever felt in a car. It was really thick, like a baseball glove or something. not this soft, thin stuff they put in Acura's and crap..
