Heard it was temporarily shut down due to snow and black ice, and may be so again with the next wave of cold ass storms coming in. Does this happen very often, and/or when was the last time this has occurred!? All I really heard on the news was that it was closed, and that truckers were pissed. [:p] Time is money, and from all my travels up and down Cali, that is one major stretch of road for trucker travel.

Crazy...how much snow was there.....a dusting [:p]

Sorry the one Christmas I was down in Memphis there was a storm warning, got a dusting and the people were freaking out. Grocery stores emptied for all the food, people stuck since they couldn't drive. To us we were out in sweaters and a light jacket, it was hillarious. Wasn't even what I would consider snow.

it was a lot actually. I saw it on the news and it looked to be about a foot with another foot on the way. I wonder if it'll get snow from this next storm also? some of you nor cal peeps heading down might want to plan on the 101 or some alternate route.

lol to your story ripple. that's funny. people like that are here when it rains. RAINSTORM STORM 2005 blah blah blah all over the news. it has rained a lot though, normal SD is 3" so far, last year we had 1.5" and this year it's at 11" with 2 big storms coming in back to back again. our annual average is like 7" or something.

I could see how a foot would mess people up, but that dusting I'll never forget.

I wish we would get a foot, expecting 4-6 inches tonight though...this warm weather has sucked, killed all the snow we had at the start of the season.

I just hope the weather isn't like this when I'm trying to make my trek up and down Cali in a few weeks.

Probably not. While the grapevine will get snow a couple times each year they only close it every few years. It always amazes me that they close it for a foot or two of snow, but with all the ill prepared socal drivers they spend too much time pulling people off of the shoulders. 395 near Mammoth can have four feet of snow, and they just plow it, no big deal.
