Well the time has come for me to drive my S back across the country. The plan is to settle down somewhere in the Bay area. I have no where to live, no job lined up and only know a couple people. my questions are as follows:

Am I crazy?
Any possibility of getting a job?? (audi mechanic)
Any one have a room i can rent?

you will love the bay once you get settled in. post ads on craigslist looking for a room to rent and such. it would be cool if you found someone on here renting a room out.

i would find a job first, then look for an affordable area to move in. there are plenty of shops looking for a good audi mechanic, just start sending resume's out ASAP.

No you're not crazy. I moved to San Francisco almost 3 years ago with no place to live and no job lined up.

Craigslist is/was my lifeline for getting my life started out here. If you search craigslist look for a temp. sublet and if you need suggestions on where to live and what commutes are- I'm sure anybody on this board would be happy to help out.

I'm doing the opposite - about to drive my A4 back to Maine in a few days. Thank God, I haven't found a single thing I like about California in the year that I've been here. Don't do it man, stay on the East coast!

Bummer dude.

Not even
- great weather all year round ?
- lots of available outdoor things to do all year round ?
- variety of "eye candies" all year round ?

If it comes down to last minute, My girl is a property director for a really nice rental condos community. I can see what she can do for a fellow AZ/Nor Cal member. If not she has other rentals but mostly houses. Just let me know. I love Nor Cal, I hate when I have to come back to hawaii for work.

Well i made it!!! So i made awesome time across country. I left on Tuesday night at 10pm (don't ask me why;) and arrived in sacramento at 5pm on Friday, thank f%€¥ing god that trip is over.. I drove 24 hours the first night and stayed in north platte nebraska, then 10hrs the next 2 days staying in Utah the second night and finally Sacramento. So I went to dinner and then met up with Justin aka norcatalyst126. What do you know. 48 hours at 80mph and everything is peachy.. As soon as my car realizes the road trip has ended it starts miss firing like crazy!! Flashing CEL, the works. I can barely make it through the intersection!! This morning.. It hasn't happened... Fml..

Gonna fix it today. Then make the 1.5 hour trek to the bay, the last leg!!

I'm back!!!

Have a safe ride back. If your car is lowered a lot, or only a little but a bit bouncy suspension, or if you have 19's or larger, be prepared for near curb height drops and raises on the I-80 roads, they've f*cked the freeway up, and the rain made it even worse.

Might add a few minutes to your drive, but to avoid all that and avoid potentially damaging something on your car, go I-5 South then 580-W, then get to where you need to go from there, that way, it's mainly smooth roads and no curb height bumps on the roads.
