I am in the process of replacing the DV valve with the D version and can't seem to undo the plug off the old DV valve. Any tricks to doing this as I do not want to break it. I have part of the car apart and need to get it all back together so I can get to work in the morning. Any help would be very much appreciated!

push the clip down and push the connection together, then pull apart. if you just push the clip down and pull for some reason audi/vw clips don't want to come off.

FINISHED!! Thanks for the tip, I was going nuts trying to get it off. I used a socket hex head with 3in adapter for the top two screws and an allen wrench to get the bottom one off.
Don't notice much of a performance difference (whew I installed it correctly). Took about 2 hours to do this because it was a royal pain in the ass getting in there.

did the harness come off without much issue once you pushed in and then pull out?

I used a very small flat head screw driver, stuck it in the slot from the top, and it just popped out. It was more frustrating finding the correct tools in the garage to do it than it was to actually remove the old DV and replace it with the new one.
Also beware that the three screws that hold the black piece of plastic to the front bumper that protects the entire underside of the engine bay have three black rubber washers on them. I also noticed that they had small dabs of white paint on them, (presumably so the dealer could tell if anyone did work to the car). Be sure to clean off the paint and put new paint marks as it will be nearly impossible for the dealer to tell that it was worked on; unless you really mess something up.
