Torque plates are one of those things that no local shop ever seems to have for a vw, yet they are an essential part of getting that perfect cylinder. These plates simulate the head being bolted in place, loading up the block during the machining process so that when the head is in fact installed, the cylinder is perfectly true. We have machined some of these up and are offering them for sale OR for rent.

Our torque plate is fully machined from 6061. It is a complete kit which also includes machined spacers which bring the total height up to exactly that of the cylinder head, so there is no need to cut down bolts. Any of the 20v style fasteners can be used with this plate. It also includes hardened steel, ground, and black oxidized washers which prevent wear to the spacers and provide even clamping force, just like the factory solution.

Purchased kits will of course be 100% new components, rentals will be on a core exchange basis. We have set prices for all the components and any foreseeable damage just to try to ensure that things run smoothly and there are no shocks if parts come up missing, etc. That information is all available on the product page on our website.

These torque plates are also of course available through our entire dealer network, so looking up your local IE dealer is going to be a quick way to get your engine built the right way. Call us for a dealer near you! 801.484.2021

I didn't even know what a torque plate was before I read this post, but that thing looks good. It's always nice to see companies still developing for an older platform.[up][up][up][up]

With a over a million 1.8t's sold, I don't expect the market for performance parts for them to shrink anytime soon. Thanks guys!
