ok so please dont tell me to search because i have haha. i am looking at getting the apr center vent boost gauge setup with the vdo gauge. But, the question is what are the differences between the 2 gauges they sell it with. One reads from 30 in. Hg of vacuum to 25psi of boost and the other reads to 30 psi with no vacuum. what is the vacuum reading for and which one is better for me? i have a practically stock 98 1.8T right now but i do have plans for a BT in the future. im a noob but im trying! and i do everything myslef so im not just some kid that has money to blow.

I would buy a VDO gauge and put it in your existing center vent for a fraction of the cost. this will allow to you to have a vac. reading which, like stated will give you a better indication of whether or not you have a leak somewhere.

also, a nice side effect is that you can be conservative with regard to fuel by regulating the throttle according to your vac. reading.

One that reads vacuum is for a gas powered car.

The one that doesn't is for a diesel powered car.

Thanks for the quick responses! i like the look of the apr mount better than the DIY one. i think it looks cleaner and almost like it came stock. worth the extra $ if u ask me. ill be getting the vdo gauge that shows 30 in. Hg of vacuum to 25psi of boost. Thanks for the help.

Before you pull the trigger on this look at the AWE vent set-up and the Podi center colum set-up. I have the Podi gauge and I'm very happy, looks very oem IMO.

x2, even my VDO just looked as stock, if not more stock than the AWE setup, and the Podi gauge is much nicer than the VDO

I agree that the Podi setup does look very clean and oem but i really like the look of the center vent. One problem i have is what about an oil pressure gauge, is it going to be necessary? where would i put that? has anyone done the apr vent mount with boost and a podi with oil pressure? just not quite sure how that would look....

i like that as well because it still somewhat utilizes the vent, but no offense it looks like you cut ur vent and stuck in a gauge. i dont think it looks oem but thats just my opinion

well if you took the time you could countersink, so to speak, the hole for the vent and make it flush for an even more OEM look...which I thought about but dont think I care enough to do, lol.

just boost here, AFR and EGT gauges will probably come later on.

ECS is selling the steering coluum gauge mount for $32. Cheap stuff, I might have to relocate my boost gauge.

I had the AWE vent pod gauge in my last B5.. It was the nicest, cleqanest setup by far.. Pictures don't do it justice..
