View Full Version : Whats the Beam pattern on a 00 1.8T?

So I know they have projectors, But I was wondering if anyone
has a Beam pattern...

its one piece projectors NON HID from a
2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 5-speed

I'm picking them up and installing a DDM 55w 6000k kit
I know they have to be better than my 98.5 regular headlights...

I've searched and Have not been able to find pictures.

You will have to dial in the beam pattern in yourself. Not too difficult.

The inner adjusters control the up and down... outers adjust the side to side.

Left (driver side) headlight: turn the outer adjuster clockwise to move the beam to the right... counterclockwise to move the beam left (as if you were sitting in the car)
Turn the inner adjuster clockwise to go down... counterclockwise to go up.

Right (passenger side) headlight: turn the outer adjuster clockwise to move the beam left... counterclockwise to move the beam right (as if you were sitting in the car)
Inner adjuster is the same as the driver side headlight.

What I did was first guestimate a proper height on the wall, and line up the beams. The desiogn of the beam is to have the passenger light higher than the driver's side. You will see when you try and line them up. Then I went for a drive and kept adjusting the height till the beam would be right at the edge of a common sedan (ie 94 Corolla). I blinded the crap out of some people trying to get the height correct, but is was necessary

I understand that. lol I meant the actual Beam Pattern,
Ecodes have a upward curve on the right side, with a Hot spot in the center...
Here are Ecode projectors

While my factory 98.5 lights have a very scattered pattern.

I'm looking for actual Beam pattern pictures.

It will be similar to the ecodes but the cutoff will be flatter. Where the ecodes continue going up, they will follow horizontal.

____/------- like that.

Sweet. Just wondering. I just bought a set of a Member's partout here.
I'll be buying a DDM kit Like I already said. I'm excited and Can't wait to
get them. I gotta find the DIY for trimming the fender.

I'm hoping their 1000x better than my 98.5 oem halogen housing/bulbs.

Maybe it's just me but Lighting is important. Big safety factor also.

I live in TN so lots of Backroad driving on a normal basis.
I'll be picking up some fogs soon also. Hope to HID those as well.

I actually Bought the headlights from this car, so those exact ones.

Those are H7 correct?

And I'm going to have to rewire anything? I shouldn't right?

You will need facelift connectors, cut off your existing ones, and splice the facelift conectors in. Valeo units use H7 bulbs in the low and high beam. So, you would want an H7 HID kit. The turn signal bulbs are 3457. Also, since you are doing a conversion you will need to cut off some of your fender to make them fit (I hope you knew that), then seal where you cut with spray paint (color match rust proof primer, paint, and clear coat).

Mine Use H7 low and Hi already, So if their the same what connectors are different?

I read the Link you provided. I'm putting US 00 one peices in my US 98.5 2peices.

Maybe I'm stupid but if the bulbs are the same, Then how are the connectors different?
My bulb should fit right into the new one right?

09-23-2009, 03:32 PM
No, you're not stupid. But just because they use the same bulb does not necessarily mean the connectors are the same. You will need to replace your round connector (prefacelift) with the rectangular shaped one (facelift). The DIY link in my last post should explain it. Once you get started on the project, you will see what I mean.

So where do I buy the newer connectors?
I'm pretty sure I won't be getting those with these headlights...

You could send a private message to "A4Rob" and ask for a quote. When I sold my facelift headlights to someone doing the conversion, I was helping the person source out everything needed. The cheapest place was from A&P Speciallties (A4Rob works for them) and he got them for around $25 plus shipping for all 4 connectors (driver/passenger low beam, high beam, and turn signal). I am sure the price may be a little bit more, but that is the route I would take. Or you can find someone partint their car and ask them to cut off the connectors with as much of harness as possible.

You can send an email to the person whom madethe person this thread (http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=21587&cat=20) and ask him if he could sell you the 4 connectors for the headlights. Or ask the guy whom made this thread (http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=21739&cat=20) if he has facelift headlights and if he has the conectors. Then keep searching for the best prices from people parting theri cars. Look on Fourtitude, as there are always part out ads in their FS section. The 2 links I posted was from a quick search, and you should be able to source out the connectors rather simply.

So I got the headlights in today.
I understood what you meant,

But Still, What I was saying made sense. I finally found an old DIY for what I was talking about.

I guess he makes it sound simple,

Remove facelift harness, and insert prefacelift harness.

lol, And fill gap with either foam or silicone.
