View Full Version : How to pack scissor jack in trunk

Well, used the frightening scissor jack in the trunk of my 2008 A4 to put some 18" Titanium wheels on my ride (they look great!). I got all the other tools back in the two plastic containers next to the spare except for the jack.
Does anyone know or have pictures of how the darn little jack gets packed in the right side plastic box? It's the handle that is giving me fits and doesn't seem to fit. Thanks!
p.s. has anyone used some of those slotted jack pads that fit on our A4 jacking space on the pinch weld?

Throw it in the trash.
First of all, it's called the widow maker for a reason.
Second, you'll never get it back in there, trust me.

This is how I fit it. You have to press in on the cover a little to get it close behind the handle.

I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get that bastard to fit!
Finally, I just said f*ck it and tossed it in there without getting it packed away all nice.

I did it!!!
This picture is a bit misleading unless the case is different than mine. There was no way that I could close the case with the jack in this position because the handle is sticking outside of the case.
The position of the Jack in the picture is correct, but the position of the handle is not.
The trick (which I saw somewhere else on this thread) is to position the handle in the back of the case (not the front as pictured). The black part of the handle should be touching the back of the Jack. Next... add 10 minutes of screwing around with it until it finally pops in. It is a very tight fit. Once I got it in, I was able to put the top of the case back on and it fit.

This picture is incorrect. The position of the jack itself is correct, but the handle needs to be in the back, not the front has this picture shows. The black knob of the handle should be positioned so that it is touching the back of the jack (no force should be necessary).

Two things....
1. This post is crazy old and it makes me laugh.
2. Least the person searched for the info they needed.

Been there, done that. It took me about an hour to figure out how to put the damn thing back.
