Is anyone familiar with this turbo? Would it mount up on an b5 a4? I overheard some guys talking about it.. I think its from a ford thunderbird.. And apparently it can make upwards of 300hp

Just about any turbo can mount up to the A4. The issue would be what supporting mods and how would the turbo flow with our engine. The stock flange is like a triangle (though circular on the ID), and I have yet to see another vehicle with that same flange. That is why ATP custom made the a Garrett turbocharger to fit onto our cars (The Eliminator Turbos). With any turbocharger besides a k04 and eliminator, you would still need an aftermarket manifold. And if that's the case, might as well stick with what people know works. Not saying that venturing off and seeing what flows well and doesn't flow well is not a good thing (because it is). But many times, it can lead to disappointment.

I'm not gonna repeat what he said so I'll just say that Seerlah hit the nail on the head with his response. There's no good reason to use that turbo unless you specifically just want to test new waters. Also, if that turbo is from a Thunderbird, then that 300hp estimate is gonna apply more to rear-wheel drive cars (300chp is around 200-220awhp on our cars, doesn't sound like much huh) With all the supporting mods you could squeeze 300chp from a K04, or pretty close to it.

And props to Seerlah for posting at 2:45 in the am. That and making it a good post too.

300chp on a quattro is 234whp(22%DL). Not something anyone is going to make on a K04-15. Even on a GT28r its going to take high boost and race gas to hit 300chp, a GT28rs or T3/T4 is needed to make 300chp on pump gas.

What's about a stock supra turbo(T26 I believe)? I have access to one but I'm not sure what kind of power they are capable of.

Sorry, it was six in the morning when I posted that, and I've been doing way too much research into the k04-outlaw. I'll keep my mouth shut now.

Yeah man, the k04 should not even be considered as an upgrade for people wanting a bigger turbo. A couple years back, those bad boys could be sought out for cheap. But now, throw a couple more hundred in there and you can get an eliminator kit. All the same supporting mods would be needed, except the addition of a clutch if you have manual transmission. My new theory is if it isn't larger than a GT28R, then don't even consider it. Would be a lot more easier and less stressful just finding a used k03 for $150 or so if replacement is the reason for upgrading.

One of the porsches had the same bolt patern on the exhaust manifold. Forget which porsche but its the k-24 Turbo. Been looking at that as they pop up on e-bay now and again for around 250-500. Been trying to research it and figure out how quick it spools and what not but can't find much info on it.

Interesting^^^ K 24 turbo huh? Porsche and audi are pretty much sister companies.. That would be a cool build.. Porsche turbo on an a4

It's a T3 60 trim, almost identical to Turbonetics Super 60. Also came in a Single turbo Z31 300ZX's with different compressor housing (better) and different turbine housing ( worse as it's 7 bolt)

it's CT26, pretty comparable but you're shooting yourself in the foot as they use a different flange whereas a Garrett T3 will allow you to run various turbos from small T25's with T3 flanges to GT35R's

K24's have different bolt patterns than K03 and K04's, K24's bolt pattern resembles a T3 and the little K03 and K04's are triangular ( only 3 bolts)

You won't have as many compressor nor turbine options with the k24 and it's really old technology. K24 and K26's use the same bolt pattern, i don't recommend either

The K-26 does have the square flange similer to the t3. But the k-24's i have seen on e-bay have had the triangular 3 bolt flange. Yea the fact that there old technoligy is whats kept me away from them. Just not enough info available to make it worth trying.

K24 and K26's have the same flange, you might be looking at an odd ball turbine housing sort of like a porsche 996TT. There are T3's with 3 bolt flanges aswell but that's not really a T3 flange, ex: Buick GN
