Revomed my bumper for the first time and it took me 45 mins. Those 10mm killed my time. Any way I sprayed my grill with pasti-dip. The first coat went on great, nice and even. The second coat wasn't as smooth.... I test sprayed the can before shooting the grill and it was clog free. Of course when I applied the pasti-dip a few globs shot out tainting a good painting. I continued to paint and the rest of the coat went on smooth.

What do you guys recommend to clean up those globs? Do I remove the imperfection and just respray that area? The plasti-dip seems good at "covering up" painter error. [:|]

Thanks

you can remove that glob and repaint. Why did you remove the bumper? You could have masked it off and painted on the car.

i definitely would not want to risk painting that piece on the car...plus you would not be able to fully coat it without removing it.

when i did the brushed aluminum trim, i tried two spray lacquers before realizing i was going to need to get a can and brush to get the clean look i wanted...spray cans are really not ideal to work with.

I removed the bumper b/c I felt it was a good time to learn for future projects plus I felt that removing the bumper was the proper way to do this. I couldn't see spraying the grill while on the bumper. I ended up doing a 3rd coat and those globs are now gone. Today I let the grill bake all day in the sun. The spray was so even I'm shocked, it turned out terrfic. What a difference it makes.......problem now is that I want to plaati-dip my window trim and roof rails (avant).

I have found that once you get a "run" or some sort of imperfection with Plasti-dip you need to start over. FYI, that is just what I have found. Others may have work around. Part of the issue is that I may be to used to paint (sanding/wet-sanding). Which doesn't work on Plasti-dip.

Something else with Plasti-dip, is you want to put your layers down thick. I generally do one light coat. And then just go to town over that. You want it looking very wet after each coat.
