Thankstake them off and lightly sand the surface off of them... they may be glazed.

Wash your car.
Seriously, blast the brake dust out of the wheel and around the calipers with a pressure washer. Mine start to squeal a little when the dust starts to build up. After a wash it goes away.

Our cars are notorious for this, but it's perfectly normal. Like CBRmatt600 said, just clean the rotors. I use P21S wheel gel on them each time I wash my car and I never have squealing anymore. That is some heavy duty stuff!

Mine were squeaking too with less than 30k miles on the clock. I usually use the pressure washer at car wash to clean the wheels pretty well. Then if the squeaking still isn't gone find a nice long, not very well used road and get up to about 80Mph and then brake down to 20 or so. Try to do this without ever actually stopping the car. Repeat that a couple of times and the noise is usually gone for a while. I guess the heavy braking allows the brakes to get up to temp and re-glaze themselves.

I've been working on a squealing issue on my driver-side front brake. It only happens after the brakes get hot. I'm running OE S4 disks and Hawk HPS pads. The squeal started after 20k miles of use.
So far, I've used some of this on the back of the pads:

And some of this on the small metal to metal contact points, pad brackets and caliper guide pins:

So, far it's worked but I need more driving time to see if it's a complete cure.

my brakes sound like a g'damn banshee...its ridiculous.
i love when i press the brake pedal down to the sweet spot in slow stop and go...just inching forward...all the while sounding like i'm scratching a chalkboard with rusty nails.
i have literally changed my driving to avoid hearing the brakes...instead of just inching forwards "squeekily," i'll just slam the brakes to a stop and wait till i have room to move again. it really pisses me off.
engine braking is good for this...even though i have auto, i can still kinda take advantage of it.

I have same issue with 38K miles. The dealer told me it was normal, but it really pisses me off. I'm gonna have to try some of the products you guys mentioned...

I've noticed the squeaking is worse in cooler weather. Above about 45 degrees it doesn’t seem to happen as much.

Squealing is normal on our cars, it's just a build up of brake dust. All you can really do is pressure wash your brakes as often as you can, or, once you get sick of that, get some low dust brake pads. I haven't heard a squeal since I switched over to my Hawk HPS.

my brakes only squeak under light breaking at low speeds. I am going to have to really wash off my brakes and see if that works.

Change the pads. Installed "greenstuff" pads and not longer an issue

I've really noticed this when it gets cold out! I called the dealership and they said it was perfectly normal. They also gave me some documentation on the Audi brakes, and in there it also said this is expected behavior when there is drastic temp. change (going from a heated garage out to freezing cold).
On the flip side though, I have also noticed this when the car has been sitting outside all day when I am at work. So it doesnt seem to be just the temp change...but more about winter in general. I havent had this problem in summer at all. Just my $.02
Edit: 17k miles

Mine have been squeaking all winter. 15k on the car. Kind of disturbing for a car that costs 37k. Very dissapointed in Audi.

its just the pads...when its time to change the pads just get some Hawks and you'll be satisfied with audi again

That's what I have (over a year with them now) and not ONCE have they made a noise! Very low dust as well but I don't go to the track or anything so can't comment on that. They also have the connector built in for the wear sensor.

+1, I've heard of people just doing the "brake in" thing whenever they start getting squealing, but it does come back after a while. A more permanent fix would be to just get another set of pads.

I installed new rotors and pads from tirerack about 2 months ago. Got Power Slot rotors and Hawk HPS Pads. Both are amazing and silent.
A lot of high performance pads make a lot of noise no matter what you do. The family Porsche had the same problem until the pads were replaced with Hawks.

The Ceramics slot in between the HPS (very stock like) and the HP Plus (track-worthy pad). I've heard some say they're quiet, while others have said they're noisy until they heat up (like the Carbotech's I have on my car). If you want an upgraded pad with no noise, I would reccomend the HPS. If you live in a much warmer climate (South FL), the Ceramics would probably be ok. We should have our Hawk order in any day now....

It's the brine that they spray on the roads to prevent ice. All of our cars started squealing after the first snow storm here. Someone told me it was the brine and it makes perfect sense. My car didn't squeal at all during the summer, or even in the winter until it snowed.

Could be...I dont know how brine affects vehicles, but I don't remember any sqeaking in the summer - so that would coincide with what you are saying.
Edit: for those who didnt know what brine was (like me)...seems like its pretty much a salt water solution.

How long do you let that gel sit. I read somewhere it says 2 hours for really bad stains. I have this caked on brake that just won't come off for nothing. Car was sitting around for a while before I bought it.

re-opening the brake pad discussion -
I got the low-pads warning on my 300mile drive home last night. I'll be trying to order pads with quick shipping today.
My question:
I was leaning towards green stuff pads, but my friend/mechanic that does all my work with me is suggesting that is a waste of money because I don't track the car.
He says they're less ideal for 95% of the driving I do, which is low-temp/under 100mph.
So I think I'll be looking for the best deal on OEM pads, unless someone can suggest a reason to use the green stuff pads for daily-aggressive driving? I certainly hammer on my car.. road-course style even on daily errands. That being said, should I buy green stuff or just stick with OEM?
I plan on upgrading rotors to same-size slotted/vented later on.. regardless of the pad choice

go for HAWK brake pads....less dust than oem and better braking
