Hi fellas,
i got APR 6 hour trial like a week ago, and it was AMAZING i swear.
But then today, when i turned off my car after a 40 minutes drive to get some starbucks, car WOULDN"T START!! [headbang]
I kept on trying and it was like "machine gunning," so i called audi roadside. Guess what, NOBODY came for me while i waited. [headbang] &[=(] (btw, i highly doubt it was the battery cuz i just had it serviced at Newport Audi earlier in the morning, and they said the battery was in good shape. David my adviser was awesome.)
So, i finally let my girl friend give it a shot 25 minutes later. GUESS WHAT! the car STARTED!!! [wrench]
What could be wrong? Maybe the car was busy reverting itself back to stock? Cuz coincidentally, I could feel the car went back to "stock" mode when i started driving thereafter [:(] ..but at least IT WORKS [drive]
What do you guys think was the problem? i'm really stressed already with school starting, moving in, girl problems, etc. i don't want a car problem :[

this is kinda off topic, but was the APR flash really that good? im debating on whether or not i should get it.

unfortunately, i have the FWD (cvt) in my case [:o]; nevertheless, the throttle response improved drastically! the car pulls harder when u accelerate, and turbo lag decreases tremendously.
BUT let's not digress please [hail]

Did you get any CELs? Sometimes when I switch programs I'll get a CEL, and I have to do the clear CEL procedure before it will start.

Same thing happened to me after the trial. But I was told that after the trial was over, it'll probably take a couple tries before the car would start so I was expecting that.
It took several for me over a span of 5 minutes and depressing the cruise control stick though before it finally started. Btw, mine also lasted about a week due to limited drving but that is probably just coincidence.
No problems since then so I wouldn't worry about it.
I need to go back to get the program because I loved it and now do miss it :(

Same thing happened to me, its reloading the stock software so it takes some time before it starts again.
I had this happen to me with both the apr and revo trials btw.

Get the trial. :)
I wasn't sure either but definitely going back to get the program now that I've experienced having it.

Appreciate the help guys! It's always nice receiving information from fellow audi drivers who have shared the same experience.
I guess this is normal after a trial and not much i need to worry about.

Anytime a program is switched with apr the car must be turned on and let sit for about 10 seconds. The slip light and check engine light will blink alternatively until its ready to start.

Go with REVO or GIAC, I know some great places locally.

Once the trial expires (6 hours drive time), the ECU has to reflash itself back to stock. However, it won't try to do this until the key is turned off and then turned back on. So let's say that you have been driving for 6 hours with the trial and continue on the road for another hour and then stop for some food. While you were driving, the trial expired and made a note within the ECU to re-flash the car the next time the key is turned off and then back on. When you cycle the ignition key off, the software will wait to force a reflash for the next time the key is placed in the ON position. While the reflash is taking place, the Check Engine Light and ESP light will be flashing letting you know that the ECU is currently being adjusted (just like when you switch APR octane modes if you have purchased the software).
If you attempt to start the car before this process is complete, the car simply won't start. This is because the ECU is not in a full ready state. The whole process takes about 10 to 15 seconds but like I said, if you try to crank the car before the re-write is finished, it won't start. The reason that the car started later on was most likely becuase you unknowingly let the re-write finish by leaving the key in the ON position long enough to complete the reflash. Your APR dealer should have explained this to you when your car was being flashed. I will make a note about this to our tech support and sales departments.
Honestly, as sensitive as these ECUs are, it's a testament to the work of our software engineers that you can actually attempt to crank the car before the ECU has finished a major process and it just sits there and waits for you to leave the key on long enough to finish the re-write and doesn't cause any issues that require outside intervention (i.e. an ECU reflash through the OBD port) or other debugging methods.
The method we use to administer the Trial software is really the only way we can send a customer off with free software and know that the software will be purchased if the user decides to keep it long term. We love offering the Trial but the re-write that lasts 10-15 seconds once it expires is a necessary evil. I am going to see if we can find some way to make sure that all customers who receive a trial get this info so that there are no worries on their ends. However, as you can see, the software works [:d]

Appreciate it Mike!! I'm sure many others will receive this value piece of information with this thread. Lastly, I would like to recommend APR to all who are interested but doubted the result.
