I drive a unmodded non S-Line Audi A4 2.0T.
The temperature is significantly cooler than the time I bought the car preowned. Even with the temperature lower, I still feel heat around my feet and my temperature gauge is exactly in the center. The needle is pointing exactly 90 degrees upwards.
I can remember clearly that temperature gauge was lower.
Can you guys/gals tell me what is your normal operating temperature.[:)]

My gauge has been in that spot since they day I got my car 78,000 miles ago. About 3 minutes after start up it gets to that spot and stays there. Did not matter if it was winter in upstate NY or summer in Tucson Arizona.
I, however, have never felt heat coming up through my foot area unless I have the heater on so that it is blowing out hose little vents on the side of the footwell and center console.

Thanks Stubek, I just wanted to put my mind at ease. I was think that 93 gas would run hot.
My feet becomes pretty hot after 15 minutes, but I am not to worry about that for now.

really, your feet get hot after 15 minutes? I wonder if maybe there is some insulation on the firewall missing. I drive in sandals a couple times per week up to 45 minutes to my parents house and feel nothing.

it's normal. I know, when I barely bought my car it felt too hot around the feet but my friend, an audi owner told me it was normal because of the turbo. since this was my first turbo car I believed him and still do[:D]

If you don't have A/C on, there will be some hot air coming in through those vents.

I drive an 07 A4 3.2 with no turbo and I feel the heat when the a/c is off as well. I looked under the hoot and along the fire wall and I dont see any of the insulation missing. Does anyone know if there is any insulation else where?

The heat I feel is considerably hot but enough to burn me. It feels the same as standing next to the brakes after a long rush hour drive home.
But that doesn't really concerns me as the operating temperature. It good to know that I have the normal temperature.

I talked to one of the audi guys and he said the heat you feel coming from the floor boards is from the temperature thermostat. it is reading the ambient air temp and depending on what that is, could push out hot air.

Yeah man, it's normal, but it's not the turbo lol. I posted this question over 6 months ago and only a couple ppl responded, it IS common for this car, but I have been in other turbo cars and not felt it. Besides, the turbo is at the front of the engine bay haha, it MIGHT be since the cat is so close to the firewall...
OP, my temp needle is in the middle as well, that's normal operating temp. I HAVE seen it go to about 1/4 on normal occasions though, I think it's pretty much anytime the RPMs are around 2-3k and you're not under much load. On hot days or cool days, it does it. [:)]
