Can we use this on our B7? Some good deals of 5 quarts of mobil 1 and the oil filter at some of these auto places. Our B7's use 5 quarts right?

Also, fram makes a filter for our cars.. I have heard it is identical in every way to a MANN filter.

I've been hearing bad things about the fram filter, some of these shops I'm calling are using purolater filters, can't find a decent price down here on the right oil and mann or oem filter.

Do any stores carry mann filter? Or do I just have to buy oem filter at dealership if I need to pick up something locally?

fram sells a filter that fits our cars which you can get at autozone and it has a print on the filter saying "made in germany" so im sure it is either mann or mahle that manufactures these and is packaged by fram. fram is bad because of their canister filters with cardboard endcaps and rubber anti-drain valve not doing its job. but in this case, it wouldn't matter, plus i have had the filter in my hand and it seems fine and no cardboard construction anywhere.

Thanks do you know the exact part # at autozone? So in your opinion the fram filter will work just fine for the b7?

I know you can run a M1-301 filter on our B5s. I believe they have the same fitment as the B7.
btw there's a $10 off coupon for advance auto floating around. Use that + the deal on M1 FTW
Edit: here's the coupon http://clhousingpictures.com/viewer.php?file=73265529957358743216.png

Thanks for the coupon, just cuz the M1 filter fits it doesnt mean its good though. I'm a little concerned with that.
How much does it usually cost in labor if I bring the oil and filter to a place like tire kingdom or something and ask them to do the change?

so many questions...........its an oil filter that costs 10 bucks. you want good one get it from dealer, you dont care, get it form autozone which most likely will do its job just fine.
and why are you in a "rush" to get it done ?
and what the hell is "tire kingdom". is that like jeffy lube crap ? i wouldnt go there to do my oil change even if they pay me.

Yep, chances are they won't know how, or won't even bother changing your oil filter. Go to youtube and type in "jiffy lube". That's not exclusive to that chain, they all do that crap. I had a friend that worked at a place that actually took off your oil filter and spray painted it, and put it back!

did that deal + a $10 off coupon (in my sig)... got a M1 filter and 5 qts of 0w-40 for $20.95. The guy @ advance was telling me they feature a certain brand every month and next month (oct) is castrol.

If you have never held the two filters in your hands and compared them then you would argue that the fram filter could never be as good as the audi oem filter... but if you actually go to walmart and take the 8.99 fram filter out of the box and realize its the exact same thing minus the four rings stamped on it and says made in germany stamped in the same font and type of imprint you wont feel so bad about using the fram one and saving yourself like 4 to 8 bucks on the filter. What you should NOT skimp on is the oil.... what viscosity oil are you guys buying at auto zone that is made by mobile 1? the only oil i've seen anywhere on a shelf that is the viscosity specified is castrol syntec full synthetic 5w-40 which actually says meets or exceeds vw 502.00 or whatever. With the cam lobe problems (metal on metal contact) i wouldnt go experimenting with what oils work best in the 2.0tfsi engine.

I could have done it for $30 if I had all the tools to do it, but I don't. I thought $67 down in south florida is a pretty good price and if they screw up it's on the dealership and not me for screwing anything up.
I think the dealers use 5w-40 castrol...but I've heard 0w40 is good too from mobil 1, didnt know you could use 0w30

Pretty much the same Made in Germany filter. Same construction. It doesn't say Mann. I think it was almost $9 at Wally World
