So my car was running fine until one day, i came to a stop at my buddies house and heard this noise... i poped the hood and there is this horrible squealing noise, almost to the point where it hurts your ears... couldnt identify what it was... so after a couple hours i left my buddies house and headed home the CEL was still on but there was no noise.... until i was almost home it started again.. seems to be when the car warms up for awhile it starts squealing.. but its only at about idle, once i hit the gas it goes away, soon as i let off it starts up again???? Any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance for any advice [:D]

A belt.

its definitely not a belt noise, its a high pitch wine or squeal, its hard to identify exactly where its coming from because the noise is so freakin loud

And i don't think the belt would pull the CEL

If you run up to your local Autozone, they'll be able to run the codes for you to see what triggered the CEL. Once we have the codes, it will be a lot easier to diagnose.

Thanks for all the reply's... This is definitely not a belt problem as that's not going to pull a code or cause a rough idle, im thinking PCV like a couple of you said, its pulling the code P0171. Im going to do a little more research.... Anybody heard of this one before?

Hey Brownie85 where is the Pressure Regulating Valve located?
chrisrjs

Anybody? Is the Pressure Regulating Valve the same thing as the PCV?

Ok, here's the update! After listening to the video Brownie85 posted i was 99% sure i had the same problem, so i went down to the dealer and picked up a new PCV valve the one i had on my car was the 06F 129 101 C ... tried to see if there was any recall of any kind on that part since i am out of warranty... There ended up being nothing. So i just bought the part... came to $77.55... swapped the old with the new and it worked!! I think its a little strange that they have changed the design of this part a couple times, after doing some reading i thought the 06F 129 101 G was the newest part but come to find out there's even a newer one now 06F 129 101 K how is this not a recalled part? why would they need to change it if there's nothing wrong? By the way, Thanks everyone for all your help!!

A newer part doesn't necessarily mean that there is a recall. There are countless parts where there is a newer version, like the DV for example. Good to see that the PCV was at fault.

yes i did read your post... just seemed like yours was different then mine... for example yours pulled a different code then mine, my would act weird in park, drive, reverse... didn't matter, yours seemed to only be acting up in park.... Your post made me think it might be the PCV but when i seen that video, i knew almost for sure that's what it was.... I appreciate all the input from everyone
