Hey all,

So I posted this up on the local forum here, but it's always good to get thoughts from Audi peeps around the country since Seattle area is notorious for having slightly inflated prices. I am currently looking at a 2008 Ibis 6MT avant w/ titanium and sline packages...the unicorn in my mind. It is fully loaded except for nav and has around 23.5k miles. They are asking 31k for it. I'm thinking this is high when nada rates it at 29.5k. I know it is a rare car and it is also coming with APR chip and RS4 rear sway, but I just don't think I can justify spending that much when in reality it's a A4 avant with a few options. Plus, I'd be losing about 3k on my trade-in of my R32. Anyway, thoughts on this price/car/etc. would be awesome!

Buy it.

I should also add in that it is being sold by an Audi dealer, but since it's flashed it will not be CPO'd (one of my main concerns). Still same conclusion of "buy it?"

I'd say try to talk them down a little bit... But if it is the car you really want, I wouldn't fault you for paying that much for the car. The mileage is a little bit high for such a new car, but it is extremely difficult to find a 6mt titanium package avant. That car will look amazing!

I'd say that is a good deal for it... But IMO i would keep the R32 forever. I have a Feeling when were all old like mummies those things are going to be on Barret Jackson selling for a Crazy Price... Good Luck with your decision.

Are they still honoring the factory 4 year 50k mile warranty?

See if you can get them to flash it back to stock and CPO it. 31k is way too much for a non CPO car with a lack of a motor warranty. They will blame the chip for anything that happens, and it will be the worst up hill battle ever.

They can't not honor the warranty, but as you know they can and will blame the chip for any motor related warranty work.

In speaking with the sales rep (who is friends of the guy who currently still owns the car), they would still honor the existing warranty but would not be able to CPO it. I guess I could always see if they could flash it back to stock and then CPO it. Keep the thoughts coming, they're ALWAYS helpful.

Yeah the Audi's up here are a little more pricey then other areas in the US. I noticed this when searching for mine in late June. But I think they get away with this because they dont get these rare option cars very often and they know the enthusiest will pay for them. I payed a little more for mine but i got a 06 A4 2.0T Sline 6mt Quattro in OBP with 20K miles and a CPO, but i definately think it was worth it and im happy with it. That price I would be OK with if it was CPO'ed. The titanium package on an ibis is sick and I never even saw any titanium package A4 when i was searching. It's pretty rare up here so id go for it, maybe try to talk them down a little, maybe 29-30K. I talked them down 1K from thier asking price when I got mine, but they definately made it hard, just kinda had to be pushy. Good luck! [drive]

Yeah, I think I'd take a hit with the trade in and even with the purchase price, but I'm almost willing to do it just because it is the car I've wanted for the last 2 years. I'll see what I can do in talking them down and hopefully work it out.

If it was CPO I would say go for it. I hear ya on the Audi prices around here. The price isn't that far off for our area :) Without CPO though, I'd pay no more than $28k at the most for it. CPO is really worth the $ in my opinion. Wonder if you ask if they can flash the ECU back to stock so they can CPO it?

What dealer BTW, University or Barrier? I bought mine at Barrier and have been happy with them. Graham in the service department is great with enthusiasts. Several other enthusiasts work there too...there are always a couple modded S4s and whatnot parked across the road. Probably service techs?

University is who I'm dealing with. I actually bought my R at Barrier and liked their service and the owner of the car even worked at Barrier, but apparently he's friends with this guy at University. It doesn't sound like he will budge at all and he said even if the owner reflashed, he wouldn't CPO it because he "disclosed he modded it." Good friend. I actually recommended the owner take it to Barrier. I have been looking for this exact car for over a year now and don't think the no CPO will hold me off of the deal, but now Im questioning if he'd be an ass and void the factory warranty all together...

With out a CPO it is not worth it. I wouldn't pay a penny over $27k. I paid $28,500 for an 07 w/23k miles. It was a CPOed car, but granted not an Sline or Ti car.

Saw a QG Ti (3.2) w/ same mileage and Nav sell for $27,000 CPO.

CPO certification ($2000 but really PRICELESS) > APR Chip ($600)
31K for a modded, unwarrantied car? NEXT........................

+1. With cars as complex as these, the CPO warranty is REALLY nice to have. My B5 CPO more than paid for itself, as I had the following replaced under the CPO warranty: driver side heated seat element, O2 sensor, throttle body cleaning, gauge cluster (lines out in center display, common on B5s), leaking rear diff seal, rocking driver seat frame, HVAC blower motor (was squeeking), and probably more that I don't remember. I'm sure all of this stuff would have cost me over $3500 if I hadn't been under warranty.
