So yesterday i got my Fujita cone filter and Blinktek heatshield in. right now i've got the filter right on the end of the maf (might do a 3in mandrel bend though, im not sure yet) with the stock snorkel in place. when all was said and done, i took it for a drive to hear the dv. two things surprised me. I could hear the intake sucking in a lot more then i could with a similar set up in my b5. not a big deal though. but now when i let off the throttle and change gears, and the dv vents, i get a whistle sound. to me it almost sounds like someone snoring or a bomb dropping.. i guess thats the best way to describe it. Im just wondering if this is the typical sound you guys with similar intake setups are getting. Again im used to my b5, which had a bit of a whoosh sound when the dv vented. I've heard an a3 with a carbonio and forge dv, and it was more fluttery which i prefer so ill probably end up picking one up, but even my dads gli seems to have more of a "whoosh" sound stock. is my dv sounding normal?

I can hear a whistle through my stock intake when I let out of the throttle really fast. But.. where did you get your intake from?

amazon actually had the best price on the filter.

glad you guys say this is normalish. think the oem piston dv would sound the same?

don't you need an adapter to put a cone filter on?

Why not just get an aftermarket DV?

The old style DV definitely makes the whistling sound everytime you left off the gas, even a little. I had the new "D" version, and it makes more of a "cough" sound, and not nearly as often. Upgrade to the new "D" version and you'll get rid of the whistling.
