So after washing my car, I take out the mats for vacum and I see that the carpet in the passenger side (front and rear) is very wet, and I mean WET.
Right now there is a lot of raining here, and sometimes you have to drive across some minor floods, some time not so minor...[;)]
Went to the dealer this morning and they say that is kind of "normal", that we should not drive thru floods because our cars are not 100% sealed.
Something like this has happened to someone here, is it really normal?
The dealer sais that under the carpet is a "comfort computer", that could get damaged, I didnt knew that that existed...
BTW, dealer wanted to charge 800usd for taking the carpet out and drying!!!

Never happened to me but I also don't drive thru deep water - ever.
And ask the dealer WTF else you get for that $800 - that's laughable.

Wow I dont know about that... Do you an aftermarket alarm?
Some installers do things half-ass and leave gaps in the firewall and it will leak in from a simple car wash.
Happen to my Z and I had to take it back to the installer to fix and it stop leak.

I've heard you shouldnt drive in water that goes above your brakes... I never have had that problem.. I heard of a guy who had water leak through the space between his windshield and his roof though..

Its usually from the ac drain getting clogged, kinda normal. Do you park under a lot of trees or stuff that can get down there and clogg everything up? and also since it drains out if you go through a big enough puddle, im sure it can go in too.

hey, what was the last thing done to your car? With my job, I get that problem every once in awhile. I replace windshields and if you did not get that done recently then the most likely option would be clogged drain tubes in the sunroof. Open the sunroof and you should see 2 holes for water to go too and if you shoot water down them, you should see water dripping by your tires. The right side then the right tire and left side and so on.
Hopefully this helps you, but if you replaced something recently or something happened like an accident you have to take that into account.

IMPORTANT! CHECK IT BEFORE PROCEEDING
Some A4's especially the euro spec ones have a certain recall campaign. I know that because I work as a service advisor in Audi Dealership. Under the battery there is a small hole which is factory fitted with a round rubber cover in the size of a large coin. This rubber is wrongly fitted there and the factory insists on removing it. You can do that easily by removing the battery or with a bit difficulty by using a very long screwdriver and pushing it down to the bottom of the firewall. If this place clogs from bird poo, leaves or dust the water comes inside the footwel. Check it.

it could be, but normaly when your ac drains are clogged you would hear a build up of water swooshing around when you make turns. I had that happen to my honda accord once (I would imagine the water has to go down some type of drainage system and if was clogged then I would think you would hear something.) Also under the cowl on the left side, there is a cover that collects water from going into the cabin air filter, if you replaced that recently you can check that as well. But the real way of checking is by taking off your A pillers and the pass side part of your rug and having one person sit in the inside of the car while another is putting the hose in different spots starting from the bottom(like the bottom of the windshield) and ending up on the sunroof on top.
hope this helps

Thats it ^ happened to me at first i took it back to the audio shop and told them to seal it and they did free of charge. I told them they would have to pay for damage done to the car if they didint seal it.

well, check the wiring from the sound system (power wire). Same thing happened to me in my b5 A4. I had a pool in the rear seat :(

OK, sounds like it could be that. If not, will take a look at the other options everyone gave.
I guess I have to check the firewall, but is there something else to check (regarding the power wire probable issue)?
