Hi ballers,
Ever since i put my koni's on i have been extremely pissed off with how floppy the car feels - it feels like a bouncy ball over bumps simply because the mechanic who installed them did nothing to the dampening.. which pisses me off because i was charged 350 bucks for the job and i have to get them taken off to adjust the dampening anyways.
I remember driving Sharkfins (Nate's) car last winter with the SS on and it was awesome! So i would greatly appreciate if anybody knows the specs of the Stassis Streetsports so i could simply change my Koni's to match it. I am not a suspension professional, in fact i practically know nothing except that dampening adjusts how stiff the car is. So a bit of technical information would help me learn - and tell my friend who is goign to do the job EXACTLY what i want.

hahah. Ok yes - the Koni's are awesome sause. They are weak sause if the dampening is not adjusted. To be honest, i was doing 120 MPH for about a mile going to Ohio a few weeks ago and they felt great! they felt planted and stiff. I've even taken some tricky turns at respectible speeds - but, when i am driving the speed limit, the car feels like a boat to me. Theres this one turn i make every day going to work and theres a ripple in the road, and i actually feel the rear end bounce up and flop back down.

That was a complaint I had with the StreetSports on my B5...the rear felt under dampened. Supposedly Stasis presets the rebound to near max setting on the rear to try to help compensate. I never tried adjusting them though because like you said, they have to be removed which is a pain. Luckily though the rear shocks on the B7 could probably be removed in 10 minutes, so I'd say pull them off, adjust them to near max stiff, and see if it helps.

Max stiff sounds like a pain. I don't know about it taking 10 minutes though. I mean you pretty much have to drop the whole suspension in the rear. I also think the fronts need to be stiffened up a little bit more.
haha what a pain in the ass. I just wish i knew the proper setting because max stiff seems like too much especially for pittsburgh driving. Thanks for the input man

You don't have to drop anything to pull the shocks. To pull the springs you do, but you have no need to do that to adjust shock damping. All you should need to do to remove the rear shock is remove the two bolts at the top shock mount and the lower shock bolt, then it should come right out.

Stop driving like a grandma the rest of the time and you'll be great then! [>_<]
My koni's feel soft but definitely not floppy (I love them for daily driving, perfect compromise, IMO), and they are also out of the box not adjusted. I wonder if you just got unlucky with them being particularly soft compared to others? Who did you buy them from - could you call them? Or maybe even call Stasis and see if they'd be willing to tune the konis and send back to you for a small charge?
Sucks to hear you're unhappy, but it's probably worth fixing it right when you do. Usually the vendors are much more responsive via telephone...

hahaha i was driving like a grandma!:)
Like i said, they felt great at 120! its just the slow speeds around my local town where it doesn't feel that great. I got them Supreme Power Parts and i would hope for the price, there aren't a few lemons in every couple thousand they produce haha - that would suck.
I was thinking about calling stasis and asking them straight up and then i figured they wouldn't tell me their secrets. That is a good call on sending them to Stasis for a charge though to have them tuned! i will give them a call and see what they say -thanks for that idea nnnnnnnnnick.
Definitely not knocking on this setup though - it is truely great for the price, but could be a tadddd stiffer out of the box.

Call Achtuning too - they actually take the Stasis SS and then further tune them for the "signature Actuning stance" I believe - they might have some ideas for ya [up]

I had mine set to about 70% front and 50% rear and it felt amazing. Too bad you didn't live closer, I could have helped you out, but I would have never put them on without adjusting them first lol.
