Hey everyone,

I've been a lurker here for quite some time and finally decided to create a profile. The main reason I'm here is because I want to get some opinions on this 07 A4 that I plan on purchasing. Here it goes....

2007 2.0T A4 S-LINE with TITANIUM PACKAGE

17,500 MILES

$25,000

The warranty on the car is till 12/2010 or 50k.

1 OWNER According to Car Fax and Auto Check

I've always leased new cars and this is the first time I'm buying used. I know that the Car Fax and Auto Check reports may not show everything about this car.

1. The car was registered as a corporate fleet vehicle in New York. This may or may not mean that this is just the way normal (individual) leases are registered in New York. Anyone know anything about this?

2. The carfax shows that at 16,000 miles the following was done (BTW this is the only maintenance record on carfax and autocheck.

Engine checked
Body electrical system checked
Interior trim checked
Manufacturer's recommended maintenance performed
Maintenance inspection completed

Anyone have an opinion on this?

After the above maintenance was done on the car it was auctioned off and the dealer who I plan on getting it from bought it.

3. I called the original dealer where it was serviced and the person at the service center told me that he cannot give me information about any car because of consumer laws. I didn't give him any information on this car I just asked a general question. Is this normal and is there any other way I can get the maintenance records for this car??

I would really appreciate some feedback and thank you in advance. [:)]

is it Audi Certified? the price seems somewhat high at first instinct, however i am not sure if that is the sticker or your negotiated price.

if it is not certified and it is a legit audi dealer you should stay away.

HIGH???
that seems like a great price (I have a White 2006 A4 w/ S-line and TI package for 26k+ at my local dealer w/ like 30k miles...)

edit- you could show me where this car is/phone number, but i have to warn you, I might buy it lol

That's the sticker price and I still need to negotiate.

It is certified but through a dealer that wholesales Audis and Vdubs. I plan on getting it inspected at an Audi dealership if and when I decide to purchase it.

Any other tips?

if it is Certified then the warranty is extended another 2 years or 50k whichever comes first. so your warranty si good til 12/2012 or 100k. pretty sweet deal if i might say

Now I just need to get the maintenance records and review them. The dealer sent me an email saying that he will get them for me. Let's see what happens.

Does anyone have any tips (besides carfax, autocheck, maintenance records, and getting an inspection done) for getting information on the car's history?

I'll chime in on this based on what I know:

1) This means that this car was a corporate lease/company car, likely driven for business purposes so that the lease is written off for tax purposes. It could be a blessing in disguise as normally leased vehicles are somewhat abused but not necessarily. For example, my 06 B7 was a lease but it did not deter me from buying it and I am fairly happy with it.

2) The major maintenance interval is at 15k miles, which was done according to the Carfax record, which is good news. The second major is at 25k, I believe, so you might be due for it in a year or so if you decide to purchase it.

3) It is true. The dealership is not obligated or better yet not allowed to release this information to you as all of the maintenance records do contain personal information like name, address, telephone number. What you can do is ask the dealer you are buying this car from to call the original dealer and request the maintenance records. Normally, dealers share the records amongst each other with no issues.

By the way, what was the mileage stated on the Carfax at the time of auction sale? I might be able to orient you on the price slightly.

Certified? It does not need to be as it still has the remainder of the factory warranty until the end of next year or 50k, whichever comes first. He can purchase the extended plan from Audi if he chooses to do so later.

There is a difference of 1,400 miles from when the car was serviced and when it was bought at the auction.

What's the actual mileage though? Is it manual or auto? Quattro, I presume. Xenon? Tech package? I am guessing that the car was about $21k out the door at the auction, plus a few hundo to prep the car, etc, so, say $21600 dealer's cost. Make your decision how much you'd like the dealer to make. I am thinking that the car was purchased less than or about a month ago. A dealer can probably hold on to this car and not budge on the price for, say 45 days... I'd pay attention to the existence of poor previous paint work as mechanically this car is likely ok. Besides, if anything goes bad you have plenty of mileage to take it to Audi to fix. Having said all that, $24k is what I'd give the dealer firmly. Good luck.

you are correct. my dealer told me not to buy something that isnt certified because you are asking for trouble. and why the heck not if you get another 2 years or 50k (so now 100k warranty). just my two cents. i understand your point

The mileage right now is 17,500. It's auto, quattro, and has xenon.

As far as how long the dealer has had this car available.... Based on the carfax, since mid May. Which is a little bit strange because in my opinion a car like this should move pretty fast.

My bad on the guesstimate about the length of time this car has been on the lot. Based on that knowledge I am really surprised they are not willing to let it go (I am sure they've had people inquiring about this car for a while now). One thought might be that they had it listed at much higher price than it's got now. Honestly, I do not think anyone will give them the listing price, period. Just negotiate, be willing to walk away and they should budge. To reiterate, I would not give them more than $24k for it but it is your choice. A few people who chimed in on this think that the price is not excessive, so see how badly you want it and act on it. The car is superbly equipped, btw.

If you feel better, I paid 22k for a Sline fully loaded with everything and it has 45k and was CPO

Im in the process of searching for A4's as well. That is a pretty good price for those specs. If you can bump that down to like 24k id take it (as long as theres nothing wrong with it). Like someone said, lease vehicles have a general stereotype that they are abused somewhat, but this thing only has 17,500 miles so you still have so much factory warranty and plus the CPO. Too bad I'm looking for a manual otherwise id try to track this down haha.
