So how many of you have told your insurance about any modifications to your car?
And if you have, what effect has it had on your premiums?

Actually, State Farm told me they will not cover any aftermarket parts that affect performance, but any thing that doesn't they will. So any bumpers, body kits, wheels, and such they will cover. Stereo too. But no engine mods at all. just FYI, ne need to tell them about most of it.

I actually just called Erie Insurance a few months ago and told him the following:
AWE Full Exhaust,
Wheels
Carbonio intake
The guy said just as long as i keep do "aestitic mods" he wouldn't raise my insurance. I just called him today to see if i could get a new s-line bumper insured and he said yes - no raise in cost.
I know the exhaust and intake aren't big upgrades, but they are still performance modifications - he just didn't know it!

Don't forget, insurance companies will pro-rate all after market parts, so even if you have receipts you will never get full value back and that's after your deductable. Also, non hard-wired items will be covered by your home owners insurance (assuming you have one).
