i recently mounted the newly acquired s-line bumper, rs4 grilled and cupra r lip. i had a lot of trouble with the mounting of it. i'm pretty sure the intercooler duct has to be trimmed a bit. is there a diy? i couldn't find one.

either way, i got the bumper on, but the sides aren't fitting perfectly tight; i'll have to fix it this weekend when i have some time.

here are some quick iphone pics:

looks great .. i did the same a couple months ago .. just snap off the intercooler ducts and take a pair of scissors and cut a couple inches off or so .. it should fit perfectly after that

I recently got the RS4 grille and black filler plate. I swapped the chrome out of my old filler into the black one and think it flows a lot better now.

Did you cut the center bar out of the fog grilles ?

Whats the real difference between s-line and non-sline. The major one i see is near the fog lights?

Larger grill. Fog light area. I just think it looks a lot cleaner since the bumper seems slightly lower than the non-sline.

you are correct, the air ducts DO need to be trimmed when swapping non-sline for s-line.

the reason for this is that the s-line bumper has the fog light assemblies sitting more recessed in the bumper compared to their placement on the non-sline, and therfore creates the necessity to trim the air ducts.

You can either pull them and cut them with scissors as previously mentioned, or you can take an exacto knife and slice each one down about 1.5" without having to remove them. doing this will not not cause any significant impairment to airflow.

i bought it from pete, who had cut them to fit his FMIC piping.. i plan on filling it with rs4 honey comb anyways [:)]

haven't seen you in a while, matt.. when you coming down again? thanks, man. yeah, i still have them laying around, but i didn't like the way they looked anymore. the yellow fogs are nokya ones from speedworld. they look like shit in the pictures, but they're like pete's but MUCH more yellow. they look more yellow than HID yellows lol the pics do not give it much justice.

thanks for the compliments guys [:d]

I should be at the meet on monday hopefully..I'm definitely thinking about going back to the yellows too. Heard nokyas were crazy yellow so I might end up going with those too. Maybe some yellow drl or city lights also. Btw go for the rs4 fog grille mesh and some s4 mirror housings

definitely going for s4 mirror housings.. it'd pull it all together. also i'd like to do the rs4 fog mesh soon, seems like a simple mod, too. didn't you have it done?

you should give some yellow drls a shot, that might look good[up]

I just won an S-line bumper off of ebay last night, w00t!! The bumper is a little dinged up but I got a great deal on it and it needs to be painted anyway so hopefully the bodyshop can slap a little bondo on there and make me right!

I'm so psyched... the non-sline bumper was the single thing I hated about my car. Now I need to track down a grill, considering the RS4 also, if I can find a good deal somewhere...

How much did this cost you? I'm looking at a package deal for 945 dollars and i can't decide if its a good deal or not (grill, bumper cover and fog grills)

That's a pretty fair price for the s-line swap...you could probably do a little better with some searching though.

Parts NEW cost roughly:

Bumper : ~$500
Grille: ~$150
Fogs: $75 x 2 (left, right)

Don't forget you also need a new filler plate, as a Non-S-Line Plate holder is NOT transferrable.

S-Line Filler Plate or S-Line Plate Holder ~ $100

USED:

Bumper : ~$350
Grille: ~$75
Fogs: $75 x 2 (left, right) - Hard to find these used, so expect to buy these new
S-Line Filler Plate or S-Line Plate Holder ~ $75

I would say you could save ~$300-$350 getting used parts, just make sure any necessary repairs don't negate the savings.

Bumper came to $150 w/ shipping. Like I said, it has a few issues but the pics were detailed and looks to me like nothing a body shop couldn't straighten out. When compared to the benchmark price from Prestige of $300 w/o shipping or paint, I think I'll come out on top.

It's definitely a bitch how much more you have to spend beyond the bumper itself, IMO the plate holder is where they add insult to injury.
