View Full Version : Hoen dLED vs Ziza LED?

Yeah I know there's 1000 threads on the license plate bulb, but to avoid threadjacking and or reviving old threads i'd like to know that if I buy the Ziza LED's from ECS, I won't get a Bulb Out warning. I have a red dis and hear that red dis = no bulb out warnings.
Secondly, I was wondering if anyone has bought the Hoen dLED lights and if they even work for our car? They're cheaper than ECS and look about the same.

Now i'm buying this because the right license plate bulb burnt out, but oddly enough no bulb out warning ever appeared on the dash. I only found out when I locked my car, as I have the 30 second light delay function running.

i bought a pair from xenon factory for only $10. i have a 2005.5 with color dis and have had no error messages so far. from what ive seen in the pictures, they look exactly the same as the ziza leds. here's the link. http://www.xenonfactory.com/products/interiorlight/audi.htm#b7a4
Those Hoen's look tempting, has anyone tried them out? Just worried they may melt the housings?

If these run cooler than the hoen city lights which end up melting housings (the non-LED version), I'm going to be all over them... when they come back in stock...

I bought the incandescents as I have the color display and did not want to do resistors. They look fantastic and obviously there is no risk of bulb out warnings.

Do you have a picture of what they look like at night? I'm curious to see them but am afraid they might still look yellow[:|]
I'm a little confused though because one of my bulbs burnt out but theres no bulb out warning[:/] If this is the case maybe i'll go for the Ziza's and hope nothing new pops up.

Evidently things are different if you have the red display, but I wouldn't know cause I have the color one. I'll try to snap a pic, but I don't have one right now.

I have the Ziza plate lights and I DO get a bulb out warning. But that is because I have the color DIS (don't know why this matters) and for some reason the red DIS people did NOT get a bulb out display.

No matter what anyone says, the DIS has nothing to do with it. I have a red DIS and got a bulb out warning when i tried LEDs.

I'm really set to buy these but would like to see how they look. I don't want them to be too blue. Im looking more for a white/blue light output.

Yeah, it really has to do with the package you have and it varies year to year. I have an 06 and with the 06 if you have a red DIS you are guaranteed no light outs however newer models (such as your 08) had the sensors even with the red DIS.
If you don't have light out sensors or you don't care about messages I would order from superbrightleds.com. I have DRLs, License Plate and Dome light LEDs from them and they all work phenomenally for a fraction of the price. Here is a link to the license plate ones: Choose 3910-x6 LED Festoon Bulb (http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR&cart_id=8617851.22407&next=50#3022-x4) - I use Cool White...they are $3.70 a piece.

I have an 06/red display so the light out doesn't apply to me.
Do you have any pics of the cool white bulbs? (licence plate)

You can kinda see them in this pic but it's not very dark out (pic was taken to show spacers). They look just like all the other LEDs (an Lexus OEM for that matter).

Yes, I got the xenon factory ones as well and so far I'm satisfied. They were cheap, look pretty much the same as LEDs, don't throw a code, and from what I can tell, don't overheat.

No prob. No heating issues, LEDs run cooler than halogens

Read what you quoted! He said if you don't care about bulb out warnings or you don't have the sensors... So yes, they will work if you plug them in, but you will probably get an error on your dash.

RED or COLOR DIS?
Red Display. I tried to take a pic tonight but it didn't come out to well with my phone so I'll take one with the camera soon.
If anyone has a MY06 w/ red display i would go with the bulbs I just got. They look great and are only 12$ w/ shipping. Really can't go wrong. Plug and play. If you don't mind the bulb out indicator then you could also go with these.
To check if your car has the bulb out indicator i think you can just remove one of the license plate bulbs install it back without the bulb inside and see if it shows up on the display.
