Hey Guys,

So some of you may know me, I've been on the B5 board for the past 7 years or so. A few months ago my B5 was involved in an accident. Mainly I was cut off and forced to run over a concrete median / island thingy....and it jacked up 2 of my rims, side-airbag came out, and possible suspension damage.

The insurance taking all these factors into consideration, as well as the fact that it was a 99.5 (10 year old car), totaled the car out and gave me $8k for it. (Which is slightly more than KBB, w00t!)

So for the past few MONTHS (literally), I've been wrestling around with the following options:

1. MKV GTi
2. MKIV R32 / GLI / Jetta(s)
3. Assortment of Audi's

However, for price, variables with work / family, etc. the Audi was the better choice for me at this moment in my life.

A 2004.5 B6 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Ultrasport!

I got the car for 13.5K with 83K miles and it came with the following mods:

1. APR Chip and Injectors
2. AWE Exhaust
3. S4 Brakes
4. Boost Gauge
5. RNS-E Navigation (off the newer A4s)
6. Spacers to match RS4 rims offset to the fender
7. Other small goodies

I was really really close to getting a MKV GTi, but when you compare a MKV that was lightly modded or stock was in the range of 16-18K, the practical side of me just wouldn't let me pass up a deal for a car that was potentially 5k cheaper with all the bonus mods.

I'm going to do the T-belt here in a few weeks, as well as throw on my Sportec Mono rims (after getting them repaired) on to the car as well.

The only thing left to do is get better at driving a standard tranny. (I keep stalling every now and then, lame....wish I drove more stick before getting her.)

Anyways, let me know your thoughts!

Thanks guys!

How many miles were on the B5 when it retired? And I learned how to really drive standard with my current B5 (drove a Volvo 850 maybe 15 times in my training period). You'll get it after a while. Stalling is mandated when learning. I had to actually replace my alternator because of one stall.

Thanks Billy and everyone for the nice feedback! I think out of all the B6's out there, USP's are one of the better looking ones...

I've never been a fan of the B7's "Fish-Mouth" so the B6 was the next logical step for me style-wise (USP only).

Asif, what size are your sportecs? You may be better off putting the tires on the USP onto the sportecs

Are you on the Texas Audi Group boards A4-achtung? Saw you were located in Austin, TX as well.

Hey Everyone,

For those of you keeping track of this post....Well end of an era has finally come...they came to haul the ol' Melange off this morning...in it's stock/stripped down form:

I actually am kinda sad....since it was my first 'real' car. First dates, new Audi friends, a lot of good road trips, etc.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me maintain, mod questions, think it's cool, etc...I really do appreciate it!
