Hi there,
I'm about to chip my 2.0T B7 with Revo, and would like to double check with you, guys, a couple of things first...
I've gotten the 'Upgraded Piston Diverter Valve', and I'm not completely sure on what instructions/directions to follow on how to install it... I've seen the DIY, but I'm not sure whether it applies 100%...
I'm also looking for information on the PCV fix. Is this (kind of) required when you chip your car?? What would be a straight forward way of doing this fix??
Finally, I've seen the Ven-Air hose kit being recommended as well. Would you do it??
I would love to read your input on these mods before chipping my car... as my local stealership is not as good, I want to minimize potential problems from happening when chipping!
Stage 2 or more does not look like a valid option as of now... so keep this focused on stage 1 chip, please...
And one question related to my used B7: I feel that it sounds more and noisier than my Forester Turbo... thing is, I don't have a baseline on how to check whether this is the noise I should be getting... Any suggestions in this area as well??
Thanks and regards,
MO

Get the latest diverter valve (06H 145 710 D). No need to worry about some diaphragm going bust on you. Easy to install, I think there are some DIY FAQ out there somewhere.
PCV, not sure what the latest revision is but there was a recall done I believe a while ago on maybe 06/07 A4 2.0Ts. I replaced mine anyways with the latest and greatest (not sure what the part numbers are as it's comprised of the PCV and hose), but the one I had was still okay. Also another part that can be easily replaced.
In before CBRMatt.
Seriously though, ALL of what you're going over is discussed. If you're having trouble installing your DV even with the DIY's out there you should stay away from it. get someone to install it for you(30 min labour) PCV, again this is covered A LOT. Stage 1 chip is great. night and day difference. Do it!
Replace stuff when they brake... Ride hard and ride good my man.

And then have fun trying trouble shoot problems like I am right now.

OK, thanks... I know this' been covered before, but I cannot seem to find the "last mile" piece of information that I need... the local dealer is of not much help, and this is why I need to worry about this now...
My comments below.

I've already gotten the latest diverter valve and had looked at the DIY instructions, but was not sure about the extra parts that I need to do it... Is it just the valve and the proper wrenches or I need more than that???

Any ideas on how I could get the part number? Or anyone who might know from "reading" my car's VIN number?? It's supposed to be an 2007 8E.
Does the PCV have something to do with the silicone hoses in this kit (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258835)???
Those hoses are supposed to keep boost up longer... would they be good for a full stage 1???? My car is turning three years soon...

Thanks! I'm not having trouble yet... as I was saying before, I need to get all the information (in detail) before moving... also, reading instructions in English, when it is not your native language is not as easy as it seems, thus my need for asking more questions... [:d]
And I would LOVE to pay someone to do it... the dealership just not get into it if you don't buy the parts directly from them, which is, as you can imagine, a steal!!

I'd do that if 1) I had the time (which is not the case anymore), 2) would have someone knowing exactly how to check and fix - with my directions - but I cannot seem to happen either...
Any ideas on how to check for the turbo actual noise??
Cheers,

Best writeup on the PCV part number can be found here:

Diverter valve - just the valve itself. Again if you're not comfortable in changing it yourself then just go to an independent shop to get it replaced. You'll need to get the front of the car raised so you can get under the car to swap out the DV.
Actual noise of the turbo? Shouldn't be anything. I can barely hear the turbo spool up unlike the turbo in the 1.8T. If you hear a whistling noise at full throttle, around 4500RPM and higher, that's the air intake sucking in air at a high rate.

I have the Revo Stage 1 chip as well and love it. I also replaced the DV with the latest Piston one. The install of the DV is only difficult in that it's hard to get to the top bolt. You will need I believe (but not 100% sure) a long 5mm hex key. One with a socket attachment at the end would be ideal. Again, the space is tight so it may take some time, but overall it is not too complicated.
As for the PCV, I'm actually under warranty so I am bringing by car to the dealer on Friday to have them check to see if it needs to be replaced. I have oil all over my engine cover so it leads me to believe that the PCV is no good.
Good luck and enjoy the new chip!
