Ok im 17, and im looking to buy an A4. Ive owned a 2007 Lexus IS 350, which got stolen, a 2006 CLK 350, which kept overheating, and now I drive my moms Range Rover which is HUGE. My parents told me to go research a GOOD car, so Ive chosen the A4. I wanted to know what REAL people think about this car, and not what motortrend or edmunds has to say. And also I know Audi made some changes between the 2006 and 2007 models, like eliminating the rear seat warmers, so which is the best year and model is the best one to get? Does this car tell you your instantaneous gas milage or does it just say how many miles until empty? Thanks ;)

B7 are great besides our engine.

Fuel Pump problems if you start to mod. Alot of carbon build up. Car will not be EVO/STI fast but its a nice fast for a luxury car if you mod it the right way. Yes it does tell u inst mpg and miles until empty.

2006 sline come with lower stock suspension and bi xenons ect

idk about 2007

2008 comes sline body.. some come with halogen headlights some with bi xenon .. and there is no sport suspension on the car.. etc

ok thanks. so it looks like I'll lean toward a 2006 S Line model, and I'll keep that in mind about the fuel pump. I noticed my friends 2007 A4 Quattro tends to blow puffs of smoke every once in a while, this car seems to produce alot of carbon. lol so i guess I'll be purchasing alot of SeaFoam..

i pay for my own gas, and im sure that even with an RS4 i would go to the gas station less than I do now (cuz this SUV takes about $70 every 4 days), but i want a 4 cylinder for 2 reasons:
1. I kind of like the buzz of 4 cylinders
2. I dont need anymore speeding tickets lol

who cares who is paying for the car.

Some people are lucky enough to get shit handed to them .. people who worked hard for their cars i know what you go through because being a college student and working a fulltime job is not easy.

I pay for my car and mods. But dont scare a soon to be audi guy away. Answer the question and move on

This is the second poster today advertising they are 17 and buying an Audi. Seems kinda odd......

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303136

if you're serious then I'd go with a 2007 A4 S Line Quattro. From what Ive read on here they are a bit more reliable than the 2006 model. Not to mention you'll have a larger period of time remaining on the warranty. If you're wanting to mod it then go with the 2.0T not the 3.2.

First performance mod should be a chip. Biggest bang for the buck.

You are 17 years old being bought a car of your choice. you say you have been driving 3 60k+ cars. You are spoiled. Accept it and deal with it. my parents bought me my car at the age of 20, i know they spoiled me and i accept it. At the same time i appreciate them for that.

If you're gonna act like your 8$ an hour job is enough for a luxury car and your parents help is not spoiling you then you need a swift kick in the head.

lol yea I saw his post, idk about him but im ACTUALLY 17 and im ACTUALLY looking to buy an A4. But yea thanks, Ill research the performance chips. Is it true that they give you better milage and more performance, without voiding the warranty? cuz it sounds too good to be true..

I have a stage 1 APR chip. It's added significant hp and torque for a relatively small price. The chip will only void the warranty if it can be proven that the chip caused the problem you are needing fixed. A lot of dealerships have a don't ask don't tell type of policy where as long as you put it in stock mode before takin it in for service and don't advertise the fact that you are chipped they won't say anything.

As for gas mileage.... Well it's supposed to increase your MPG as long as you drive like you did before getting chipped. If you use the additional hp and torque a lot though you will probably see a slight drop in MPG.

I never realized so many young kids drove A4's...man i was proud of myself when i bought my baby new at the age of 24 with my own money~ but if you can enjoy it and learn to appreciate the worth of a dollar i guess you have a head start in many ways~

Right on bro, I consider myself lucky. My parents are paying for my insurance since they knew i wouldn't be able to do my monthly, gas expenses and all. Definitely feels good when you save up and have the right amount for your next mod :)

get a prius if you're worried about gas mileage. It's a great car. I don't understand why people are talking about modding when this kid hasn't even said a thing about mods haha.

fusion if you ever mention the p word again... nvm

i could drive my car for 10 years before it would have been worth it to by a prius. plus by that time the prius will have had to change its batteries for another couple grand or what ever it is.

Audi's are great cars to drive and extremely safe. Enjoy the car and IMO it doesn't matter who buys the car. I hope down the road when my daughter is 17 I have the ability to buy her an Audi.

SOOO much repetition in this thread.

Anywho, my imput would be these cars do take a but more $ to fix them, even if you do it your self. So keep that in mind. The best thing about the car I would have to say is the direct injection. I came from a B6 A4 1.8T and it was Stage 1+, and that car vs. the 2.0T i have now, is still slower than the 2.0T with just an exhaust and no chip.

BTW nothing wrong with your parents buying you a car. My parents bought me both Audi's, and I still appreciate a $ as much as most of you. If he doesnt have to pay for one, why should he? When I am older I want to buy my kid everything, so long as he earns it. At least you have a job and I am sure you earned it. I hope the car buying goes well for you.

I have a 2006 A4 and love it. It is well worth the money. I also have a 1997 A4 and although there has been many advancements between the two, they are both great cars. You can't go wrong with either the '06, or '07. Take a few test drives but I would definitely recommend getting a certified one from a dealer.

Nothing wrong with a parents giving a kid an A4 as long as the kid appreciates the generosity and understands the value of money. It's a safe and relatively slow car, there are certainly worse choices a parent can make. We all got stuff from our parents whether is was them paying for college, you living a home for a few years, or getting a nice car. Seriously, unless someone on here was an orphan and raised by wolves, STFU- there's always people who had it worse than you.

OP- Audi dropped some features for 07/08 that had been standard or part of certain option packages. However they also made a few reliability changes that should make the car more durable (revised cam follower, stronger diverter valve). 08 added the Sline exterior package to all cars so that is a good choice.

I'd personally suggest a well optioned 07 or later. If you don't plan on modding very much, definitely seek out a car with the optional Sline package (door badges being a good indication if it has the option).

x2 about the 2007...i have the 2006 and im just waiting for my cam and follower to go..

im 18 and i was given the car to me by my parents as well so dont listen to the vietnam vets about how they drove a horse and buggy with a 2 legged horse that didnt go unless you shoved your fist up its ass..weve heard it enough on AZ and we understand that some kids are better off then others(more spoiled)..

but w/e 07 s-line 2.0t quattro and you will enjoy it..just make sure it doesnt have halogen lights or anything cheap on it, you will enjoy it much more if you have some packages like tech or convenience..and like the others said get it from a dealer who you can buy CPO..your dv and cam are most likely to give up some time

Yea, dont take what people say about driving nice cars at such an age. I have heard it plenty. A4 is a great car and safe the only downside is your a target for the cops at a young age in an Audi. I've already gotten pulled over for no reason just to run my license (probably to check for outstanding tickets).

uhhh, just go way.

Not spoiled?

Ok im 17, and im looking to buy an A4. Ive owned a 2007 Lexus IS 350, which got stolen, a 2006 CLK 350, which kept overheating, and now I drive my moms Range Rover which is HUGE.

- You haven't owned anything, your parents have
- You've alternated between a Lexus, Mercedes, and Land Rover, none of which you have paid a dime for

Thanks ;)

- Ok, fair enough. If you wouldve left out the first part, you might have constructed a proper post.

lol well as corny as it may be, I HATE going to te gas station, thats why I want a 4cyl..

- Uh oh. I could go on for a while about this one, but I'll hold off

i pay for my own gas, and im sure that even with an RS4 i would go to the gas station less than I do now (cuz this SUV takes about $70 every 4 days), but i want a 4 cylinder for 2 reasons:
1. I kind of like the buzz of 4 cylinders
2. I dont need anymore speeding tickets lol

- Getting worse...

uuuh im not spoiled, 1) i have a job, 2) i dont take anything for granted and 3) i spend my own money for mostly everything

- Look kid, I dont care if youre spoiled. It's not your fault, its your parents. What you need to do is accept it and understand that having things handed to you your whole life doesnt prepare you very well for the real world, which you may or may not ever have to live it. Take some advice and get a car that you, yourself can pay for. Chances are, it will be a beater that you can use as motivation to work harder to be able to afford a better car. You will get a sense of satisfaction that you have likely never felt before; the sense of independence and of self-sustainability. Good luck[up]

Oh, and trying to convince people you are not spoiled is probably not a good idea either, especially given your first post.
