View Full Version : The S4 oil Cooler Mod?

08-05-2009, 02:06 AM
As some of you know ive been having high oil temp issues(265degrees)

so ive been thinking of doing the S4 oil cooler mod because its supposedly bigger and delivers more oil cooling or adding a thermostatic oil cooler. right now its really a toss up but i think i might give the s4 oil cooler a try first before i dump a lot of money on a oil cooler. so who has done the mod and what kind of oil temperatures did it drop it to? also where could i get a s4 oil cooler, and arn't they the same as the 2.8 30v coolers too?

any ideas would be great

I've read the article many times but who's had some real experience with it? Better cooling and such?

from what I've read. Better heat capacity. Faster recovery time. Can't find the thread but I recall one saying they never get above 210 degrees during daily driving.
I saw around 230 during dd when few weeks ago when it was mid 90's outside. I've been looking at doing this before I go elim

yeah I was looking at the pricing for a thermostatic oil cooler and it's going to be much more than doing this mod. Just need to find a place that sells the 2.8/s4 coolers

anyone know of any sites to sell the cooler or should i just go to the junkyard

wow that's alot I think I'll just try to find one at a junk yard. I could spend 30 more and have a really nice oil cooler setup
