Sup everybody? Just wanted to get a discussion going on what you think about this... Do you prefer a euro plate on the front or none at all (if you don't require a front plate)? Post pics if you want! I currently have a euro plate on mine, trying to weigh out if i should leave on or take off.

It's kind of ricey, but also looks kind of cool. I think the litmus test for this sort of thing is to put it on and if after a few days you want to rip it off then you know where you stand.

Frankly it's the utter definition of rice: a pointless item which is posing to be something you're not - in this case a car registered in Germany.

Do you consider these rice when you see them on Hondas?

I already said it looks pretty cool, so who cares if it's a little ricey... it's up to him to decide if he feels like a tool driving around with it or not.

The irony of that symbol on the right is that in Japan it means inexperienced driver-- new drivers are required to use them (pretty good idea in it's own right, but that's another discussion). What's hilarious is the kiddies who put them on their cars here in the U.S. thinking it makes them m4d tyTe JDM without knowing what it really means.

Just like alot of other mods, it's cosmetic. Swapping your stock 17" rims for 18". Is there a performance gain always to be had... No. But you like the look. Putting a lip on the car.... Why because you like the look. If you like the look of a Euro plate, I say go for it. People are too quick to throw out the term "rice" for a mod they don't like.

They're interesting when it's clever and pertains to your Audi/VW, like "8 UR VTEK" or "RUB A DUB." What you have right now is lame because I doubt most people will get it and just think it's a random sequence of letters and numbers and you're trying to pass your car off as being registered in Germany. On the flip side, vanity plates that say "NOFATCHIX" or "OMG LOL" are just dumb.

Keep that on. Yea, honda's and ford whatever's may have it on too, but they probably feel like idiots when they actually see a German car in the states that is worthy to wear one. It was my first mod :)

maybe the car was registered in germany or something. out in california i rarely see these plates and when i do i'd put money down its a german/euro car.

my opinion is that if you can make it look like you didnt just slap it on then sometimes i would prefer it. i can tell you have the chrome lined filler plate behind it and it just looks like the plate is not supposed to be there. maybe you can pick up a european filler plate or something with the indent for the license plate. so my vote is yes if you can make it look clean and no if it's just gonna be the way it is. but what ever you like

yes^ get the proper bracket. It is an easy install. I believe you have to unscrew 6 screws that hold the stock bracket on. Make sure you get a non s-line bracket that holds a euro license plate. Here ya go:

thank you jimmy. You definitely have to get matching caps for the screws. I paid like 20 bucks for the plate itself, 100 for the EU plate holder, and like i don't know, 3 bucks for some decent screws and caps that fit over (black of course)

I was in Germany last year and didn't even see one Mustang. I think the Germans have to have front and rear plates like we do in NJ, so they wouldn't even be able to run an American plate

I'm not trying to make it look like anything... I made that plate cause that's what I wanted. And how I have it on there.... i'm just working with what i got. I'm going to be ordering that filler from oemplus.com - just verifying the correct color (which i think is the 1QP Gray color choice). Anywho...thanks again guys...this is all good info...keep it comin!!

you can get the darker color. I have that darker black color (kind of a shiny pearlescent) on my bland gray non s-line grill and it actually looks cool. Brings a different flare to the stock grill. As for the OEMpl.us one, you might not have to buy screws because that one looks like it just slides in which is nice. I bought mine from TMTuning and i had to measure it perfectly and drill holes into the bracket to make it work.

In my old car, I had a county Sheriff spot my car drving down the road, and I assume he thought I was from Texas, and should have Texas plates in the front and back. So he pulls a U-turn after he drives past me, and hits the gas hard, as he caught up to me quickly. He gets on my bumper, and notices my Arizona plate. At that point he puts on his breaks and does another u-turn, and drives away in the opposite direction.

in california the law says we need front and back plates but its such a minor fix it ticket that 1 in 10 cars probably dont have a front plate. cops just use it as a reason to pull you over for something else.

That looks absolutely retarded. That is on the same level as someone putting a "no fat chicks" sticker on the back of their Chevy pickup. Has anyone actually told you that was cool who was over the age of 14?

It is as rice as it gets. Who cares if the car is manufactured in Germany? It is sold in the states. Do you see people in England driving Ford Escorts around with US plates on the front? No, because it is retarded. It is no different than the Honda kids slapping stupid JDM plates on their cars that were most likely manufactured in Mexico. The car was shipped to America and designated to be sold in America. Only in America would people think this is somehow cool.

One awesome thing about America, is that we're all entilted to our own opinion. And while I agree that the content of the plate above leaves a bit to be desired, I once again disagree on the blanket statement a Euro plate is rice. I have my plate for personal reasons, as I stated earlier in the thread. I don't know how it constitutes rice anymore than someone that puts a flag up of their country of orgin (or their kins), or a logo of their favorite sports team.

I did mine for two reasons:

1. It has my real license plate number and in TX a front license plate is required but the US sized ones look awful on our cars. I had my car with the license plate delete RS4 filler plate and no one stopped me either but in my Z4 I got pulled over already for not having one. I'm not saying that this one is legal either.

2. I always liked how the euro license plate breaks down the Audi grille. So I did it for me. I kept my RS4 filler panel so I can put it back from time to time.

http://i31.tinypic.com/1z5hdua.jpg

This is an old picture. I got a new one with the background of a darker color to match the gunmetal wheels but I could have also tinted this one and saved a few bucks. Lesson learned.
