Hey, guys.

I recently installed a set of oem recaro that came off an b6 s4 on my b7 a4. My original driver seat has power but without heat, and the passenger side seat only has power for adjusting the back support softer or harder.

After the installation, the driver seat side works ok. However, the passenger side recaro doesnt work at all. I guess the wires in the plug of my car doesnt fit the recaro's plug(the plugs can be plugged in). But I did see the passenger side recaro moved a bit when I adjusted it just right after the installation. Right now, the air bag light is on and the passenger side doenst work. Does anyone know how to make the passenger side work? Im sure I need to wire up something to get it worked.

By the way, is it possible to make them have heat as well?

I asked a mechanic guy, he said that since I have changed the seats, my car has to be reprogrammed, because the system of my original seats' air bag is different from the recaro's one. If I dont that, it may cause some safety issue. Is that true? He also says that, if I did the seat modification, my factory warranty wont be valid anymore. Im so worried about this thing.

I am thinking of taking my car back to audi dealer, but I dont think they will help me to do the modification especially adding the heat seat function. Where should I try to get help with that? Im located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Any recommendation?

Thank you for spending time on helping me.

b6 s4 seats require some modification to get the airbag light to not go on, not sure what it was but I believe a resistor or something.

Doubt audi will know how to do that. To make the seat warmer work, you would have to buy the harness I would assume and the buttons to turn them on. Same would go to make the power on both sides.

I have heard (not experienced) them being plug and play for power for passenger...

I know it's not applicable to all dealers, but when I had my Recaros(aftermarket not OEM), my Warranty was still good...

I know Recaro did attempt to make an adapter for the occupancy sensor(resistor) but nothing ever came out of it...so I'm not sure if there's anyone that actually has a solution..EXCEPT I believe someone did gut their OEM seats and rewrapped into their new seats to make everything work...

As far as safety goes, reprogramming your car will not make the light go away, HOWEVER ..i have been TOLD by my BODYSHOP(who supposedly deals with these things a lot, and have witnessed a few occasions on b6 and passats that has airbag light on due to aftermarket seats) .. that the airbag will still deploy in an accident...although this has been a debated issue amongst many...

Good luck, just rock that light =D

Yup, I heard that people have put a resister to make the airbag light have gone.
This is the link of what he did

The thing is that I do the same thing as he did, I think I only can turn off the airbag light, but the passenger side seat wont be functional since it doesnt really connect to the car's battery. Am I right? I am going to take my car to a body shop to see how to fix this problem.

Thank you very much, guys. I will post solution as the problem has been done.

Hey, you can buy the heaters for your seats and put them in yourself. Crank the seat all the way forward. Should look like you are trying to put the headrest into the dash.
If you look closely at the bottom of the seat there should be zippers or other fasteners on the back of the material that holds the covers on the foam.
Disconnect those and you can slide the cover off a bit.
If you remove all the surround pieces you should be able to slide the whole seat cover off.
Then you can put the heating element on the seat and CAREFULLY slide the cover and affix everything back up. Wire up the harness according to the ETKA catalog or maintenance CD or manual and you are cooking!
The airbag is a different animal. Lemme do some investigating. Good luck![wrench]

Oh, I finally decided to take my car to fix the problem in audi since I dont want other mechanic mess up my car's computer system. If someone screwed the system, the warranty wont be valid anymore.

Also they said they are going to charge me around 800 bucks for making the passenger seat work. They need to get some parts from original passenger seat to install the passenger recaro. But for the heat, the agent doesnt suggest me to do that because it will be charged for more than 1000 bucks which is not worth.

I will let you guys know how things go. Thank you for your help, guys. :)

So looking at this, it seem he might have gotten the airbag to work? but has anyone confirmed that the airbag works? with this fix?
