I have the sport shocks on my S-line and looking for a moderate H&R sport drop.

What's the ride and handling like? And, any issues with the shocks blowing out?

Does the springs paired with Koni's lend to a lower overall drop? [drive]

you might get flamed for this due to the massive amount of threads on this topic. but i dont mind it.

i was in your exact situation. basically i can tell you this: i picked up the h&r sport springs and will back my decision to do so even a year later. handling wasnt a huge improvement and ride quality just barely got stiffer but basically not noticeable to a passenger. absolutely love the ride height i wouldnt change it a bit. i was told that the sport springs are one of the most aggressive ride heights so i went with it for that reason.

yes i have the sport shocks and no i have not had a single issue. and if you do have an issue 5 10 or 20 thousand miles down the road, then just get some koni's or another sport shock. no big deal. but what most people will tell you including myself, if your not short on cash, definitely just get coil overs. simpler install, little better performance, can change ride height, and are direct swaps.

no unless you have coil overs the spring is the only thing that effects ride height. i think you will love the h&r sport's drop though.

I like what I'm hearing - thank you. The sport drop is the more modest drop right?

I just want to close the gap/level the arches front and rear, not slam it by any means.

I have the Eibach Pro kit with OEM sport shocks. No issues whatsoever.

Just ordered H&R Sports for my Stock Sports Suspension. Hopefully installed by next weekend. Then maybe I'll finally post pics of my car :)

I think eibach are a bit more modest and they are softer than H&Rs

I have H&R sports on sport shocks and its not great imo. I rode in a buddies car that had eibachs and I realized I had made a mistake. Go eibach. Not as low as H&R but I think its the best bang for ride height and comfort.

is it possible he has less miles on his shocks? or at least less miles with the new springs than yours? i would assume its more comfortable because its more like the stock spring and less like a sport spring. its a question of how aggressive of a spring you want.

I've heard the Eipachs are more comfortable...

It will be fine for a while, they'll eventually wear prematurely, but it will take more than a year. I'd say the biggest reason to do springs/shocks at the same time is just that the install on the A4 is so much more involved than on most other cars it just makes sense to go in there once.

That, and in my opinion the OEM sport shocks are pure crap. But as I find myself saying over and over, if all you care about is lowering the car- have at it. If you're hoping for a true handling upgrade, it won't be as good as a spring/shock combo.

exactly.

If you want to do it the right way and upgrade your suspension to one that will allow your car to actually handle better, than get a set of springs and shocks that are designed to work in conjunction with one another, or save up for coilovers.

If you don't care so much about handling characteristics and are only going for the low look, then by all means, cut corners and save some cash with springs only. Maybe pop a VTEC sticker on the back while you're at it. [up]

Same case, I can't tell you if there is an issue because i have been with them for 3 weeks, but Eibach is not as aggressive as H&R, so maybe it could be a better option for sport shocks.
