I recently bought an 06 A4. I love the car, but was wondering what I can do to get a smoother ride. The ride in the car is great, but there are still some vibrations I would like to cut down on if possible. Also I want to cut out the engine noise and other outside noises. Basically I want to make the car as quiet and smooth riding as possible. Any ideas?

What speeds are your vibrations occuring? Also is it when brakeing?

Certainly sounds like it. [;)]

OP -- you will need to post more details including what tires the car has now, and also what you drove previously.

Didn't you test drive it before purchase? If you like smoother, quieter cars, you should have looked at larger luxury sedans i.e. Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Lexus GS, etc.

Install some "softer ride" tires, that'll probably decrease 15-20% of road noise.

yeah smaller wheels with bigger sidewall tires, if you have sline, replace springs and shocks with non s line

if you have factory pirelli's or aftermarket fuzion hri/zri's there is your problem right there. the pirelli's start cupping and feathering after about 15-20k miles. the fuzions start cupping after 500 miles. i used to work at a tires plus and fuzions are by far the worst tires ive ever seen.

ive done a lot of tires, and my personal preference/recommendation are continental sport contacts or michelin pilot sports for casual/daily drivers. good wet and dry performance, very low noise, and wear very evenly.

vibrations 50-60 mph indicate tire imbalance, noises from 15-60mph may indicate wheel bearing, or tire noise due to improper wear pattern/poor tires. engine ticking is normal for fsi engines. vibrations over 60 are usually suspension or aftermarket wheels not lined up on hubs. what problems are you having specifically? this will help narrow down your cause, and possible solution.

Get an alignment, get your wheels/tires balanced...make sure you have no bends in your wheels...if you do replace them. Larger/softer tires will also help.

Or trade that sucker in for a different car.
