was asked to trade my car in for a 2002 VW GTI VR6 with 118,000 miles. The car has a Borla exhaust other than that it is bone stock!

the value of the car alone is over mine and if i traded mine in I could get less vs if I got this car and sold it. The guy wants a straight up trade for titles.

Thoughts?. .. . .. ..

any help.. I am trying to figure out if that GTI is 24 VALVE/12 VALVE

2002 Volkswagen GTI/VR6

MSN AUTO says it's 24 VALVE.........my research on Forums says that the 24 Valve GTI/VR6 doesnt start to 2003

yet I found a video here....

No garage and id lose money by taking it to the shop and having them uninstall everything and + shipping just not worth it

all that matters is what you want, its your car. right now im actually looking to sell my a4and get a mk4 GTI vr6 too.
we first saw the 24v vr6 in the 2002.5's. I was looking at a 24v GTI back in the fall and it was a 2002, which made me wonder too.
easy way to tell though...
6 speed = 24v
5 speed = 12v

FAIL

6 speed is six forward gears and reverse. 5 speed, well...you get it now?

I wouldn't do it. If you dont mind the torque steer from FWD then do it. I would only do it if it was an R32

It's a personal choice. If you think it will be worth it do it. I personally would not go from AWD to FWD, unless my car was not running well.

I think a lot of us on Audizine have owned FWD (me, MKI GTI, MKII GLI, MKIII GLX)
I will not go back to FWD.

Plus it looks like you have some nice mode with some money invested.

if you only drive in a straight line then fwd is great! but if you drive on normal roads with turns then stick to awd. even in the rain it kicks ass. any mods you do to the vr6 are going to make it bite for traction more

gonna hold on to it. you guys convince me :)

in for sale section...maybe ill sell it now.

^^ good choice to hold on to it. but then you state its in the for sale section? so does that mean you are still going to sell it? i am confused. lol

i have had many FWD and RWD vehicles. I will NEVER go back. AWD is the best. sure a little worse on MPG's and drivetrain loss, but it more than makes up for it in the twisties, rain, sleet or snow.

oh yea i forgot about the FWD part. I used to have a stage 2 gti and the torque with the FWD was very uncomfortable around turns n stuff. r32 = awd 4 shooo
