View Full Version : hid headlights?

i was looking on ebay, and found a few sets of cheap lights (well, cheap being like 300 bucks or so) that have hid kits preinstalled hid. my car's a 96, and the stock lighting sucks, so i've been itching to get something better regardless. but i'm wondering about a few things. first is, i emailed a few sellers, and they said that the euro style lights need to be rewired. does anybody know of a write up that explains this? and second, since i don't really know anything about hid, if it says that it comes with ballasts, and the bulbs are already installed, is that all i need to get going? i understand that if i get 1 piece i would have to cut the fenders a little, which is no problem. i'm just wondering about the rest of it.

You can send a Private message to "A4Rob" and ask for a quote for the facelift headlight wiring harness. I sold my OEM Valeo headlights to another AZ user after I aquired my valeo Ecode headlights. I was heliping him source out everything needed for his facelift conversion, and I ended up getting a quote for both connectors with maybe 6" of harness slack for $25+shipping (something like that). This was a while back though, but could be the easiest route.

The things with HIDs to be legal and not blind the crap out of other drivers is to have projector beams. The facelift one-peice headlights are projector (don't get the halo/angel eyes). There are aftermarket 2-piece projector headlights and there are also prefacelift 1-piece projector headlights (I spotted these a few times before). Facelift headlights will require you to modify your fender for them to fit.

Can you post a link to the ebay headlights in question? Thanks!

Seerlah, yeah, i was wondering what kind of wiring is necessary, and if i'll need a harness.

and yes, those would be something i was looking at, but possibly the 2 piece instead. depending on which's wiring was easier.
