View Full Version : b6 tranny into b5 1.8

I'm ready to go at the Auto to manual conversion, I have all but time and money.
I found a 03' a4 for like a grand that's recked in the front in my area and it would be great as a part car.
My question is will the tranny bolt up the same, as it's the same exact motor?

Why did you post this twice, and in the projects & builds section too. It's gonna need moved.

Here's the thing, you have a Tip right now and going from that to a manual is already a lot of work. Trying to do a swap past generations is gonna make it that much harder and/or impossible. There are others with more knowledge than I and they will probably give you a better answer.

Good luck though. I wanna get a manual in my car as well.

the short answer is no it wont.

also read the rules before posting. this is a question not a project.

i must agree this is the wrong section.

in short, you can go from tip to 5/6 speed. any b5 1.8 or 2.8 would work without too many issues.

Hey man going from B6 trans to B5 is pretty easy, you just have to change the axle flanges. This should help. Starts on page 3, I did this awhile ago but if you need anything else I can snap some pics.

FYI you DO NOT have to swap the tailshaft
