View Full Version : CEL went away....cool?

So I reset the battery 2 weeks ago after the boost gauge install and the CEL was on for a few hours (20 miles or so) and finally turned off by itself. I was scared, but frustrated, because I knew I did absolutely nothing that would cause a CEL, so I figured this was normal even though I didn't recall it doing it last time. Fast forward to this week, installed HFC w/no spacer, threw a CEL approx 40 miles after install, figured it was the spacer, installed the spacer, reset the ECU, CEL turned off at first ignition cycle. Started it up again and the CEL came back and stayed on for the past day (approx 50-60 miles) and mid afternoon today it magically turned off...is this normal? Is all well? Can I SAFELY assume that the spacer was indeed the problem and it is now fixed? Or does the ECU for some reason keep the code but rest the CEL after so long? I've never heard of that, and it wouldn't make sense, but I'm a paranoid person when it comes to engine health...[:|]

Strange, so the ECU typically saves the fault codes either way right? You got PM too[up]

yup correct. i got the cel and it went away. took it to audi, yelled a little and got it replaced in 30 mins. Now i'm hearing that the fuel pressure sensor light usually hints at cam follower wear.
