I bought my 2005.5 A4 Tip FWD about 3 months ago.. I was in need of a car and didnt do much research on the a4's other then the motor, i knew i wanted the 2.0 over the 1.8. Long story short im kinda wishing i went with the quattro with a manual tranny sence my plans were to keep the car for a while and slowly do some mods.. What do you guys suggest i do?

Keep the car and get over it.... or try and sell it and get a Quattro with a stick? Would it be worth selling the car and going thru all that [confused]

unless you bought it wholesale you will most likely take a bath selling and then purchasing another. Keep it, save money and enjoy it!

I know exactly how you're feeling.. I was in the same position with a couple of my VW's. I would actually suggest you sell the car and buy the stick/quattro A4. While your at it..save up for one Nav/HIDs/S-line or Titanium if you can find it.

Holding out for the car that's going to make you happy will outlast the amount of time it will take you to re-earn the difference you lost in the sale.

I was in the same boat that you're in now. Difference is I knew I wanted a quattro. But, all the used ones I was looking at were at least 150mi away from where I lived and just didn't have the time to test them and I just sold my car, so I needed a ride quick. I had to compromise and get a FWD.[=(]

IMO, just deal with it and enjoy what you have. I'm getting an S5 later on in life anyway.[>_<]

I'd stick with what you got, since quattro wouldn't make much difference in Arizona and auto is an asset in traffic and daily city driving. Don't mod the hell out of it, but save your money for a nice B8 in 2-3 years.

OP, I also kinda wish I had the quattroz on mine. But, what are your plans in slowly modding it? Cosmetic mods... don't need quattro. Mild power mods... don't need quattro. Unless you want something like big turbo, FWD can handle it. Granted cornering isn't as good, takeoffs can spin, no snow driving, but for a moderately modded car just for cruising around or commuting the FWD works fine for me.

I would imagine that in AZ, a quattro wouldnt really do much for you, unless you really really want an awd car for track use/ spirited driving or plan on racing through dirt roads/desert.

A manual transmission i would definitely say yes to.

Same scenario as me.
I got my car last year during Audi's lease special of $399/month, only limited to CVT. As this was going to be my first Audi, I didn't do much research on the car/engine/tranny. I just wanted an Audi badly.
Over the next few months, after getting the vehicle, I started looking for after market parts for my car, noticing the CVT was limited. However, the true purpose for my Audi was that I wanted an awesome looking vehicle on the road. As power/performance would be really nice to have, I much would rather have a car that turned heads on every corner.
I have taken my car and lowered it, new wheels with vinyl accents and have accomplished my goals without spending a ton of money on mods. And yes, I do turn alot of heads at my car.
Over time, I have really enjoyed the CVT. Every past car I have had was a manual tranny. I truly like not having to shift every 5 feet during rush hour. It is very calming and relaxing having an auto.
As for the original poster, only you can truly decide where you stand in your current position. Whether you want more from your vehicle than it can truly give you. If that is the case, then you have to decide what to do.
Either way you decide, you still have to remember that you are driving one of the better cars on the road today. And no matter what tranny you have, it is still an awesome vehicle.
Cheers.

Chris -- they don't feel one iota different when driven unless driven in conditions in which AWD would make a difference (snow, hard cornering, etc). IOW, in real world driving there is no difference. I drove both and base what I am saying on that experience.

Where there is a difference is in the fact that the FWD gets better fuel economy and is a teeny bit faster.

If you like the car apart from what you have been reading on the web, then keep the car. You will lose too much getting rid of it now. When time comes to get rid of it, make a significant upgrade -- not a quattro version of the same car.

My 2 cents. In the end it is your choice.

Then that is all that matters.

Most of the people on AZ seem to believe that quattro must be best for everyone and some even believe that everything else is crap. Could be that the lurkers are too shy to speak up lest they catch flak for daring to buck the trend.

Fact of the matter is, there are a heck of a lot of people in the world who, for one reason or another, are quite happy with FWD. AAMOF, most of the cars in the world are not AWD (believe it or not) and FWIW, most of the race cars in the world are not AWD.

If you have a car you are happy with, do not second guess your purchase. Nothing positive will come out of it.

The rattle is not a built in feature, so keep trying and good luck. [wrench]
